In the Myers article, the NFL says that black out rules do not apply to premium seating so since the Giants remaining seats are premium, they will not be blacked out. I think the Jets will have seats other then Club's remaning when all is said and done "But here's the good news: Because the Giants sold out all of their non-club seats by the end of March, the NFL confirmed to the Daily News that Giants home games in the new stadium will not be blacked out. Blackout rules pertain to just the non-premium seats and the Giants have sold all of those" http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/fo...available.html
in year whatever when the jets play the giants i hope it's a giants home game so we can see it on tv....
Can't find that article from this link, 314, but I get the jist of it. The Jets have never indicated exactly what encompasses their "premium seats" though, at least not from the brochure. I suppose it does not include the regular PSL seats but does include everything in the "PSL Club Seats" which would be Coaches Club ($20,000-$30,000), Great Hall Club ($25,000) and E/W Club Prime ($25,000)? Who knows. They'll probably get a pass if they fill up the most expensive Club Seats and so what if the E/W Sidelines ($15,000) aren't filled, they'll just claim these are not their "premium seats" and get away with it. Either way, I think the Jets are going to have a tough go of it. I don't think anyone from the Jets properly predicted the number of defectors that would be flooding into the PSL-free Uppers.
Neither NY team will ever be blacked out. Not only because ownership wouldn't allow it to happen but also the NFL wouldn't never let it happen. NY is the biggest market and gets the biggest ratings share whenever its teams' play, regardless of the opponent. It's a lose-lose for the team and the league. Not happening.
Rules are the rules, they will not change them for the Jets, they might purchase tickets or do something like that, but they will not waive the black out rule if we don't sell out or PSL's seats. Club seats are those seats that we auctioned.
The NFL blackout rules are not designed to protect any team's revenue stream, they are designed to protect the NFL's ability to sell out its games. If the Jets do not sell out non-premium seats the games will be blacked out. This is a bad policy, based on 1960's logic not the age of the internet, and it will be changed fairly soon is my guess. Obviously we'll all watch the Jets off of a streaming Taiwanese site if this happens, which is one good reason the policy is no longer effective at much more than pissing off the fans. If the NFL developed a real attendance problem over the next few years then it is likely that the next TV contract would have pay-per-view built into it to allow people to buy the game when it was blacked out locally.
The Giants won a Super Bowl two years ago. That's going to sell some high-priced tickets that the Jets can't in this environment. I'm assuming that the Jets didn't just look at what the Giants were doing with their pricing structure and assume they could get away with that also. If they did then they were foolish.
I'd rather catch it off of my new streaming Gitmo Channel for detainees down in Guantanamo. Hey, they have to be able to watch Jets games too, God Dammit. Let's be fair.
Any seats not sold via PSL will be sold via ticketmaster as individual game tickets and be sold out!! Just like every other team that has PSL's that are not 100% sold out. The games will be sold out, with or without selling the PSL hence any blackout talk is nonsense.
what really sucks is when preseason games aren't even televised. i recall a jet/giant game a few years back that wasn't covered by ANY network.
Before Woody started mandating that you buy the Preseasons as part of your ticket package, most of those games were not sold out and therefore blacked out while the game was in progress. But they were televised right after the game was over... usually at 12 midnight. I used to actually wait up or set my alarm so I could watch and see how the new rooks were doing.
GM will never go bankrupt. Nothing is static including NFL games live on commercial TV. When I was a kid you got to see live heavy weight title fights with big draws like Cassius Clay on network TV. Shit happens.
