The difference is that you are not taking Harpua's words out of context. The similarity is that you are wrong on this subject too. There are a multitude of posts from multiple posters pointing out how you are wrong on this subject. I just want to know if you actually think both Thomas Jones (and his agent) actually expected to see that $6 million balloon payment that is written into the last year of his deal, or was it put in just so the agent can say he got Jones a X years deal for Y dollars? The reality is that Jones KNEW he was getting big money upfront in his signing bonus, that his third year of the deal would be cheap and that the chances of him seeing that fourth year were near zero. I dare say everybody involved knew before he signed it, that he wouldn't likely see that money. That's the way the system is set up. He got the big signing bonus and the team has the option to cut him when they want. That's why the signing bonuses are so BIG. Now back to your point, why would we pay Jones more when we hold all the cards and why throw more money at a 31 year old RB when he's still under a contract that he decided to sign, KNOWING full well that he would get big money upfront and next to nothing in year three? BTW, was it you that locked that 'other' thread so I couldn't reply to you? Just wondering.
The only reason to do it is to lock him up for two more years since they will have to cut him and make him an FA next year and have to compete in the open market for his services. If the Jets want Jones next year and believe there will be a bidding war for Jones it might be cheaper to renegiotate now. The reality is it will probably cost the Jets more to renegiotate now for 2 years than it will to pay him 900K this year and renegiotate next year. If Greene turns out to be a bust and Jones stays healthy and delivers than the Jets will have made a one year mistake. If Greene becomes the power back and takes 250 plus carries which is why they moved up to draft him the Jets don't need an expensive third back next year. We can draft a running back late or pick up a practice squad type back to play behind Greene and Leon.
I didn’t realize you were still here. First, I never took your words out of context. I quoted your exact words. It’s not my fault you didn’t have your facts straight and kept changing your own story. No one is pointing out that anyone is wrong. People are expressing their own opinion. And they are all basing it on solid foundation of information not fantasy stats. Something you could not do. It’s funny how important it is to you that you actually think I’m wrong when I proved to you over and over again in that other thread that you were in fact wrong. The Jets don’t have to give him any money up front. I have suggested that they should if they can. It would lower his 2010 salary cap number if we need to keep him for the final year of the contract. I’m not sure why giving him another $1.5 million this year while taking his number down for 2010 has your panties in a bunch. I understand he’s 31 but luckily he hasn’t taken the pounding in the early years like Edge has and can be a part time back for us next year if we need him. If not we can let him loose with no affect to our cap. I have said that we should do this or at least consider it as long as we aren’t up against any salary cap restraints. I’m sure you’ve read that I’ve mentioned that over and over again correct? And I’m sure you have also read that I have not suggested we give him any more money than what his contract was or that we extend the deal for more years. You kicked and screamed about getting that thread closed. Now are you saying you don’t want it closed? r u serious lolz omgz. Anything else you got you can take it up with me thru PM’s. Other than that then you will be ignored this time. You really aren’t worth the amount of time I have already spent on you.
Exactly! It will cost the Jets a lot more to renegotiate with Jones now that he's coming off a good year as the primary ball carrier, than to deal with Jones next year when he'll be a 32 year old back who's been sharing the ball with two other backs. That's assuming the Jets even want to deal with Jones then. The Jets have already positioned themselves to move on without Jones next year. There is no reason they are going to keep him for that 4th year at $6 million. Jones has no leverage. If Greene is any good, he'll make Jones a backup. You don't pay backups the kind of coin Jones' contract calls for next year. If Greene sucks, we're still probably not going to keep a then 32 year old RB for $6 mill. Thomas Jones is decent, but he's not special.
You didn't realize I was here because I don't post an endless stream of crap like some others do in order to get attention. I'm not here to 'be known', like you are. Did you forget that already? Also, after all this time you still don't get it, quoting some of my words and taking my words out of context are NOT mutually exclusive. It absolutely was your fault cause you never got that, and you wouldn't just let it go when I asked you to 'let's agree to disagree' and move on'. You just kept bitching and lying endlessly. I've never changed my story; I probably said you took my words out of context in my first reply to you and I still stick by it. Everyone is using a solid foundation of information, except you. You're saying 'do it, cause 'why not'.'. And there ya go with the "fantasy" thing again. Like a broken record. You funny. The only thing you proved is how crazy you are. You're wrong on most topics. I ignored you up til now cause you're a nut, or was that a dick? I forget. Anyway, I would of continued to ignore you, but you brought up our previous conversation in this thread and made it sounded like you were the reasonable one, when that's actually the opposite of what's true. See how you NEVER answer a question put to you? That's why I gave up trying to talk with you in the previous thread. You're whole suggestion is to give Jones more money up front, so why are you saying the Jets don't 'have to'? Why don't you tell me the sky is blue too. Crap comments to try and trick people into thinking you're reasonable. Of course the Jets don't have to give him more money; He's under contract. We all already know that. It's been mentioned a hundred times in this thread alone! Your two scenarios are he'll be a back-up back for 2010 or he'll be cut. WHY then would you forward him money from a $6 million dollar payday that he's unlikely to see. Either he gets cut or he take a pay cut to be a back-up. Or do you think a back-up deserves $6 mill? Oh, and if my panties are in a bunch, it only cause you keep sniffing them and stuffing them in your mouth. Freak! You got stupid with the panties comment first, so don't act all offended and innocent.... Again, do you think Jones and his agent had no idea that the 3rd year would pay Jones 900K and that he was unlikely to see year four when they signed and took $13 mill in the front end of the deal? And again "why would we pay Jones more when we hold all the cards and why throw more money at a 31 year old RB when he's still under a contract that he decided to sign, KNOWING full well that he would get big money upfront and next to nothing in year three?" Give in to disgruntled players who haven't EARNED a new deal and EVERY player will come in with their hand out and they'll all be disgruntled when you say 'no'. See, this is exactly why I think so little of you. Where in my post did you see me say I didn't want that thread closed? Yes, you 'quoted me exactly', but I can't see anywhere in there where I said or even hinted that I didn't want it closed. You pulled that out of your ass, like you did with everything else in that other thread. I asked if you closed that thread because 1) you said in that thread, that you would NOT be closing it. 2) I wonder if it was you cause your last post made it sound like you were challenging me (like you do in all you post to me) to reply to some nonsensical point you tried to make. Well with the thread closed and locked, I could reply and point out how dumb your point was. It seemed a cheap way to try and make yourself look better by challenging me, then preventing me from being able to reply to it. I will continue to post on the forum wherever I like. If you are true to your word (unlikely) and ignore me (ie. stop replying), and you don't bring up more lies related to our conversations, I won't have to point out how you are wrong on all points. Then we can both be happy.
Why is Murrell2878 sending me this PM? I think he's taking unfair advantage of his mod status. he can fling personal attacks at me, but I can't do so to him?
I thought you going to ignore me? Now you are abusing your mod powers in a personal conflict, which you started, by sending me a warning? I think you should lose your mod status for this crap you're pulling..
Calling him a nut or a dick is not a personal attack. It's a reference to my sig. It's a joke. And if you want to see personal attacks he made against me, search for a thread on Chad Johnson and read it. It's full of them. Also, he can say I have my "panties in a bunch" and not get a warning? Is mine really worse, and worthy of a 'medium personal attack' warning?
Err, Murrell is one of the more respectable guys around here. I'd say take it to PMs or drop it, but that's just me and I'm not involved.
BTW, would ANYBODY else be given a warning for something like this on this board? I mentioned once how there was a lot of cursing on this board and everybody was 'big deal', 'who cares'..... I see more offensive stuff on this board ALL THE TIME. It's personal and an abuse of his mod powers.
Being known and being respected are two different things. And if you're not involved, why did you bother commenting? You're free to comment, but then you're involved, are you not?
I'm in the opposite situation: guys my age are starting to get drafted. Also, any good points Sinjz has made in this thread are voided by his signature.
Then you are at a great point in your life. Oh, to be 22 again. Actually the year guys my age started getting drafted we had four 1st round picks, so that was exciting to see a bunch of guys my age make an impact on our team. It's really too bad those guys couldn't get us a championship. At least we have Shaun Ellis left as our last hope hmy:
Calling him a Dick is a personal attack and you can't seem to find a quote where he does that same to you. Souds like your accusation of Mod abuse is way off base there. If you think "panties in a bunch" qualifys then take it up with Petro. Yuor comment is worthy of a warning. People have been warned and banned for similar stuff in the past. The only difference is no one had to hit the report a post button on this one, because your calling the Mod a Dick in you post. It was obvious he was going to read it and your baiting him like hell to fight back, which by the way is also a bannable offense.
Creeps me out. They have millions and play sports I love for a living while I cringe at paying back college loans. Fuck Life.
Not that I'm any expert, but why are we giving an aging RB who had his best season ever AFTER we fixed our offensive line? Do you really think Thomas Jones just suddenly became the AFC leader magically, or was the additions of Faneca (a killer run blocker) and Woody the real reason? I mean, two seasons ago Thomas I think found the end zone ONCE, in the same offense with some very bad players on the line. We fixed those holes...and voila! we can run, but now Thomas Jones thinks he's Michael Turner? He didn't have any big runs either last year if you recall, he reminded me of Martin, only not as good. They know it too...thats why Greene got drafted. I hope they trade him to Cleveland for Edwards like was rumored. I think pretty much any big running back could get 1000 yards and 10TDs within this offense and with Leon spelling him. Seriously, maybe even Mack or Soss. Sorry if I am late on this, I haven't been posting in a while and didn't feel like reading through the entire thread.
