I just did as well, and I would encourage everyone to do the same. This has the potential to damage someone's name/career...at least do some damn research before writing and posting an article! He should be taken off the beat immediately if Rhodes is not being investigated.
surprised nobody posted this in here yet (though i guess it goes directly against the subject of the thread). From Cimini's blog today: I find it funny how he fails to mention that it was his paper that made the "allegations" against Rhodes.
Good find, he makes himself out to be a complete ass now. Cimini, it was your OWN NEWSPAPER that put it that way. FROM THE OUTSET.
Not only was it his paper, his name was tagged to it. This is typical Cimini. He helped in throwing the mud, and now that he has been exposed by the Morris County Prosecutor as a fool, he will just play like he was righteous instead of doing the right thing and apologizing, and admitting he was going for the scoop at the expense of Kerry Rhodes career
For those who have not seen it here is the News article today which rebuts there article of yesterday http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...get_of_investigation_of_alleged_rape_at_.html
Don't forget to add "LOL." That's a key acronym to throw into your posts to indicate you are laughing at the issue at hand.
Can someone post a link to the original story with Cimini's byline? i can't find it anywhere. Maybe it's disappeared.
my email to the News- to The News and Sports Editors: I want to express my disappointment in the Daily News because of Mr. Cimini's false allegations of rape by Kerry Rhodes of the Jets in a May 25th story . Per the county Prosecutor - "Information which is being reported through the media that Mr. Rhodes is the subject of a rape investigation is factually untrue and wholly inaccurate and has the capacity to unfairly damage the reputation of Mr. Rhodes". The origin of this rumor appears to be your own Mr. Cimini, the Jets beat writer, as referenced in the story's byline! Where was the fact- checking a reputable paper does before printing a story? And where's his and the paper's apology for this attempt to destroy a young man's reputation? I've been reading the News since the 1950s but I see it might be time to get my information from more reliable sources. That makes it a sad day for me.
My opinion of Cimini is stated in the last sentence of this post. http://forums.theganggreen.com/showpost.php?p=1251850&postcount=2
Actually, this is quite interesting. And kinda shows how easy it is to hide in the internet age. If you go to this site: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/index.html, it shows you an overview of their stories. One of the story blurbs says: However, if you click on that link, it takes you to this news story: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/2009/05/25/2009-05-25_new_jersey_cops_investigating_rape_claim_at_home_of_jets_star_kerry_rhodes.html which is dated Monday at 1:28 PM, written by Oren Yaniv, and specifically says in the first sentence: So basically, they got rid of their original story (except for the blurb which proves they originally accused him). The new story is "back-dated" and sounds like they did great reporting from the beginning. Something they couldn't get away with if it wasn't for the internet. It also gives them a nice reply to all these emails where they can just try to deny the whole thing (or more likely ignore everyone)...
