Passed over for top spot, Schottenheimer finds same gig, bigger role By Thomas George > http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d81072627&template=without-video-with-comments&confirm=true
IMO Schott will shine this season , even with limited tools. I also believe that this will be his last season with us a OC as well. Hes auditioning for a HC job and expect alot more pressers from him because of that.
Rex is giving him free reign to call the plays as he chooses I think which should be beneficial. I think we're gonna see some very creative play calling this season
I just hope if they do, they let him throw the damn ball. That should keep the defense back on its heels, and make that play effective.
Does anyone else remember in the 07 season when Manstupid started justifying his play calling by referring to statistics on the past success of each play? For example when people complained of too many fade passes to Coles in the red zone Manstupid talked about the percentage of those passes which had worked in the past. You can't come up with stats like that in the first season, there is no data to work with. I have a feeling that Schott was given free reign in the first season and then Manstupid and his protege, Brian Daboll, calculated all sorts of stats from that and started telling Schott what to do. We'll see what happens when they start playing games, Daboll is the new OC at CLE, I expect their offense to tank.
Passed over for Jets' top spot, Schottenheimer finds same gig, bigger role didn't see this posted, thought it was a good read. http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d81072627&template=without-video-with-comments&confirm=true
