People deserve second chances, and Matt Jones is the cheapest option in this poll. Having a cheap 6'6 red zone threat when you have a current roster full of undersized Rod Tidwells is more than appealing. I'm not saying he's the best option talent-wise, that's Boldin - who is simply going to be too expensive to trade for, and subsequently sign to an extension. I don't see how Plaxico can even be considered a viable option when it's more-than-likely he goes to jail. Braylon Edwards drops the ball too much which could kill the confidence of either our QBs.

Bryant is the biggest headcase out of all the receivers discussed in this thread.

I think all of the receivers talked about could be an asset to our team, however, we don't need a stud at every position. I'm not saying we have a great or even good receiving corps, but not having a true #1 receiver won't screw our season.

If we cut Drew Coleman and trade Brad Smith we save a little over million I think. Plus if we trade T-Jones, his 900 K comes off the books. So that's ~2 million rite there

Yea Parcells couldn't take his bs and after a few clashes, he had Bryant traded to the Browns.

Signed with the Niners as a FA after 2 mediocre yrs in Cleveland.

He was released by the Niners a year after signing a nice FA contract because he was clashing with Mike Nolan.

3 head coaches, 3 different teams, clashed with all of them. He's a big-time malcontent in the TO mold, yet unlike Owens he doesn't have the production to quiet his critics.

I'd give him a second chance if he had ever shown any production commensurate with his potential that we keep hearing about. The problem is he hasn't.

Yep. The biggest sign that it's a mental thing with Braylon is the type of catches he drops. He doesn't miss on the big ones, he misses on the easy catches. I'd still like to think that we can get him turned around, but the contract demands he's making are seriously out of line with what we should be looking to pay right now.

No prob bud. Yes he's one guy that I'm glad is franchised as well lol.

Now Michael Clayton I'm with you. I'd take a flier on him as long as he comes cheap.

His career statline is very hard to explain. Rookie year in '04, first rd draft pick, puts up GREAT numbers. 80 rec, 1190 yds, 7 TD's.

Since that year, he only has 2 TD's from '05-08 and receptions and yards have all fallen off by a lot. Mind boggling how far his numbers have dropped. Only reasons I can think of are Gruden is a control freak, Tampa's offense has been rather putrid for a good number of yrs now and the musical chairs going on at QB for them.

Burress, but with a lot of fine print so we can cut him if he decides to F up again... hes def the most talented within our reach.

IMO Burress would be the best option, if he avoids a jail sentence and if the gun shot wound is not that serious. The guy is a proven receiver who has demonstrated that he has the ability to make big plays and elite toughness that allows him to play through injuries and pain. Plax is also already 30, so he could be the perfect stop gap solution at WR so that Clowney, Stuckey and Henry are able to establish themselves as solid NFL receivers, and if none of them pan out, then hopefully someone from the 2010 draft can become our no. 1 receiver opposite JC.

Actually we would also accelerate the rest of SB into this years cap.

It would cost us cap space to cut TJ.

I would prefer Boldin because he would Sanchez a LEGIT WR to go with for years like Marvin and Peyton had

For you older fans you may remember Mackey Sasser, a former Met catcher, that developed a disasterous habit of not being able to throw the ball back to the pitcher. He would double and triple pump, sometimes more before tossing the ball.
