Hey, With the jets current punting woes, I am seriously considering having a crack at trying out as a punter. Why not eh? They can only say no and tell me to get stuffed if they dont like it right? How would one go, just contact the club? Who? Where? Any help would be appreciated. I have had a look on their site but couldnt find anything. Maybe just a call to the front office?
Do it like in the Major League movie... just show up run onto the field and boom one 70 yards. How far can you kick it anyway?
LOL, Not much of a baseball fan anymore, but that movie is a CLASSIC. Wesley Snipes is awesome in that movie lol. EDIT: Never knew how well I could kick a football until a couple weeks ago... went out with my gf and a couple of my buddies and had them place hold for me. I was lining the ball up on the 45 and putting it through (and nearly over) the uprights and over the fence and into the parking lot. I made a few that were set up at the 50 (which were still going into the parking lot, my accuracy waned quite a bit though) . I always had beastly strong legs when I was playing high school ball, but never tried kicking. I might try for the college team out here.... this was a regulation college football, I don't know how this translates to an NFL ball, or how good my form is or anything... but I really surprised myself...
A buddy of mine tried out for the Chargers a few years back. He could blast punts, but had no consistency. 70 yards, then 10. Try and get a hold of a scout. They usually have group workouts periodically. Anything to get you into a workout. Hell, even a video of you bombing punts at traffic might catch their attention.
 That's a better idea than kicking at traffic. Actually AFL teams have open tryouts regularly during the offseason. Try that first.
And, since you're a Newcastle fan, we know you'll have your fall free. (praying that Sunderland stays up over you on goal difference).
I almost tried out for the Arena Football League 4 years ago. Then I realized I was white, slow, and shitty at football.
How do you compare to your teammates at the NY Maggies? Anyway, give it a go. If anything it will make a good story for posting on here.
That's great... a few years back while I was working in minor league baseball a few of us front office people took bp from one of the pitchers. Now I was never a great player but I had some pop in my bat. Well I absolutely crushed one over the LF wall about 340 down the line. He threw my another one and I went opposite field over the RF wall same distance. Next pitch he promptly beaned me with a fastball in the back. I feel pretty good because this kid is now pitching in dbl A.
I'd love to have a go at this as well , also placekicker. I can consistently knock a ball through @ the 50 with enough to spare. Have an odd kicking style though , barefoot.
Suggest an exciting new tv show called America's Got Talented Punters Dancing on Ice - then get on it and win and the prize will be a contract with the Jets. Easy.
