One twenty yard catch was all it took for a lot of folk to jump on the "David Clowney for WR2" train, and hell yeah, more power to him. Me, I'm pulling for Stuck. Here's some statistics on how a few first year guys have done compared to sleeper wide receiver: Stuckey's first season in action: 32 catches, 359 yards, 3 TD's. Isaac Bruce: 21, 272 3. Plaxico: 22, 273, 0. Coles: 22, 370, 1. Cotch: 25, 311, 0 in first two seasons. Donald Driver: 24, 353, 2 in first two seasons. Santana: 2, 40, 0. Steve Smith: 10, 154, 0. Reggie Wayne: 27, 345, 0. Hines Ward: 15, 236, 0. Roddy White: 29, 446, 3. I dunno, just a little food for thought. It's all about production, right? He was behind Coles and Cotchery with Brad Smith, Dustin Keller, Chris Baker and Leon Washington pulling away even more passes, but the dude got on the field, got open, and caught the ball. Earn that gig, Stuck! BTW, Plaxico is the only guy on the list taller than Chansi.
yea i dont know why so many people overlook stuckey. I cannot remember him dropping one single pass. As far as I'm concerned he is a pretty reliable receiver, I haven't seen anything to indicate otherwise. However, I like Clowney's confidence, or should I say swag.
I like Stuckey a lot but I think his attributes are more fitting for a slot receiver. He's quick, shifty, has great hands and is willing to take a big hit while holding onto the ball. He doesn't have top end speed though. My preference would be to have Clowney on the outside because of his ability to stretch the defense and force them to keep a safety over the top. Stuckey doesn't seem to have that top end speed and I'm not sure defenses would be forced to respect him with safety help. That would leave the option of keeping a safety in the box open to the defenses which can kill a running attack. Also, Clowney is not a slot receiver and not willing to take the big hit over the middle. This is where and why he failed in GB. I wouldn't mind seeing Stuckey at #2 but ideally I'd like to have Stuckey in the slot and Clowney outside.
Yeah, I've been thinking about the whole necessity of a deep threat thing. If we had a Russell or a Favre or a Manning, somebody who can and will flick a few 60 yarders down the field, then I would probably be in favor of a speed guy on the field at all times. BUT, I don't think the long bombs are going to be as big a part of Sanchez's game as throws on the run will be. To cater to his skill set, I'd prefer a guy with solid hands and good... idk... get open skills like we've seen out of Chansi. He helped us out a lot when Brett was running for his life.
Chansi Stuckey will be the number two receiver if he earns the job. Interesting stats, but this isn't a popularity contest. Guy was very tough in college but he's not a big guy. He needs to show that he can stay healthy. I love him but I'd prefer to see an upgrade at the position or see Clowney step up. I think he's tailor made for the slot. -X-
I could be wrong too, I'm just going by the naked eye watching a limited amount of him on the Jets. Either Clemens or Sanchez shouldn't have any issues throwing long balls. The threat alone should keep the safety honest. I wouldn't be upset with Stuckey at #2, I'd just prefer to have that blazing speed as a threat.

I think he ran like a 4.34 at his pro-day, but ran a horrible 4.56-4.6 or something at the combine. So who really knows haha
40 times are nice and all, but Stuckey doesn't display the football speed that translates to being a burner.
Whats interesting is how Rex Ryan specifically has mentioned clowney multiple times and I don't think he has ever mentioned stuckey
I'm with WhiteShoeWillie. Stuckey may be our second most reliable receiver on the team, but going into this season with our current receiver makeup, he just fits much better in the slot as opposed to split out wide. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him split out wide in 2 WR sets and in the slot when Clowney, Smith, or whoever else comes in to split out wide. Either way, I expect Stuckey to step up a bit this season and be a go-to guy down the stretch for us. His talent reminds me a lot of Coles coming in, although his game speed isn't really up to par. As someone said, he was timed at 4.34 at his pro day so he's got some track speed but I haven't seen it translate onto the field here yet.
Chansi Stuckey ran a 4.5 + at the combine and a 4.49 at his pro day. sancheez, i heard you're a rumor monger. Could be wrong. :smile:
I believe he was timed three times in the 40 at his pro day and the slowest time was taken as the "official" one. I know he was clocked into the 4.3's on at least one of his times. He was a guy I was originally looking at us to draft in the 3rd or 4th round, so I specifically remember that. May not have been 4.34 but it was at least 4.39.
I don't get this "just a slot receiver" stuff. How many Jet WRs are actually faster than this guy? Cochtery isn't. Coles used to be faster, but he isn't now. I think if Stuckey is given a chance he will be at least as good as Cocthery, however the fuck you spell his name.
