Cotchery is an excellent route runner who gets open fairly often, however he doesn't get open deep that often due to his average speed. Stuckey and Clowney are both wildcards and we have no idea if they can get open against a good NFL defensive back at this point. The Jets need to find another option at WR and another option at TE before camp opens. That's a tall order to fill at this point in free agency.
Can't trade that 1st rounder. If the Jets collapse next year, and they have collapsed like clockwork in the odd years recently, that could be a top 5 pick in the deepest draft in nearly a decade. I don't see a deal for Boldin right now. The Cardinals drafted Beanie Wells, so they have no interest in Thomas Jones or Leon Washington. The Jets have no surpluses elsewhere to deal from. I think the Jets are going the June 1st cut route and praying at this point.
we wouldn't trade Leon, we'd trade Jones. if the draft will be that deep maybe a 2nd rounder gets it done? I don't know, I still think Edwrads and/or Boldin might be moved by camp.
Well said. Everyone seems to remember only 2007 with Penny, which was his worst season (along with rest of Jets). He was a first rounder for a reason, is tough and a good leader, and took care of business early in his career. The shoulder surgeries understandably took away some velocity on his release, and yet he's still a capable starter in this league. We don't need Sanchez to be like a John Elway, and if you think he will be, you'll likely hate him in 2 years. Temper your expecations. I'd be extremely happy if he can show some toughness, leadership, and poise in the pocket. This generally does not happen in first year though. Fortunately for him, a good team and oline is in place which EVERY QB needs to succeed.
The actual full quote was "Pennington plus before Penny had the shoulder surgery"..I was watching the NFL network when they quoted the GN
Jones has no value to Arizona right now. If you draft a runningback with the 1st round pick he must be on the field for you, it's not like QB where you get a year to adjust. I suppose the Jets could give up next year's 2nd to get Boldin, assuming they were sure the rest of the pieces were in place and they got lucky in camp with injuries. I don't want Edwards. #1 receivers with questionable hands aren't really #1 receivers.
Then the Jets need to learn how to say no when immediate gratification is put in front of them. I'm developing a vision of Mike Tannenbaum as an avid thumbsucker when he was little. His moves are screaming "now, now, now, I want it now!"
We may have most of the pieces but at QB that he needs to develop so we can be great everywhere else and still may struggle b/c of that. At this point unless a WR shakes free as a cap casualty I think we go in w/ what we have.
Haha, 'immediate gratification'?! It's only been 40 fukking years, 106 days, and...where's champ? Something about the Jets and 'immediate gratification' in the same sentence goes about as well together as polyester plaid pants and a striped shirt (not that I'm ever guilty of that combo or anything). Dunno, after all this time, 'now' is looking purty, purty good.
My guess is he's scouring the Internet for negative comments on Sanchez that he can bring here and regurgitate as indisputable fact. But I have him on ignore now so it will remain only a guess.
Yeah that's what has me excited. I actually enjoy listening to Rex Ryan give interviews because he isn't bullshitting and conceiling info like EM
