Jets signed South Carolina S Emanuel Cook.
Cook drew comparisons to Bob Sanders in college and plays with a similar heat-seeking style at strong safety, but lacks Sanders' range and needed another season in college. He left the Gamecocks after his true junior year.

    40 Yard Dash : 4.65 seconds
    Bench Press : 18.0 reps
    Vertical Jump : 35.0 inches
    Broad Jump : 116.0 inches

Positives: Fearless. ... Sound tackler. ... Breaks down in space well due to good lateral quickness and balance and shows rare explosion as a hitter of his size. ... Can separate the ball from the ballcarrier as a hitter and has three forced fumbles. ... Instinctive defender, reads the action quickly. ... Smooth hip turn and has a short-area burst to close on the ball. ... Immediate standout in the SEC as a freshman.

Negatives: Listed at 5-foot-10, and may be shorter than that. ... Questionable straight-line speed. ... Protected in coverage a bit by South Carolina's unique 4-2-5 scheme. ... Immature. ... Missed the Gamecocks' final game (Outback Bowl loss to Iowa) due to an academic suspension.

Awesome signing, I definietly think he could make the team as a 4th safety after Rhodes, Leonhard, and Smith.

^I agree with all that aside from his number on the depth chart. I could easily see him taking over Smith's spot.

Why did he come out? I think he still had a Senior season and he could of boosted his stock.

The guy's best chance is as a ST contribution while being depth at S.

I saw everyone of his college games. He left college too early, but he is a very good player and should make the team. He plays with a lot of intensity.

He did have a gun charge back in Palm Beach, FL that was dropped and he was declared academically ineligible for the Outback Bowl because he had begun to focus on the draft.

I would not label him as a problem player. I would label him as someone who cares A LOT about football.

Here are some highlights for you guys:

This video does not nearly show the impact that he had in college.

Looks like a fearless little guy who likes to stick his head in there (and on the ball).

Didn't like seeing however (at 0:13 seconds of the YouTube film) some honkey running him down quickly from behind-lol

Like Carpet, I watched every South Carolina game and Cook flat out destroys people when he hits them.

Due to the lack of depth we have at safety, Cook can definitely make this team. He'll definitely contribute on special teams right away -- one of the best tackling defensive backs in all of college football.

This guy means nothing to me unless you can produce videos of him dressed in native garb, dancing with sticks of fire...

I have a feeling with the new coaching staff we have, players like Cook will eventually explode. Bart Scott was undrafted as well.

Hopefully he is a player that can develop under Rex Ryan.
