Mangini doesn't know shit anyway....he brought in Ratliff to be a backup, look what he's got right now.....
Did you ever consider maybe we wern't willing to give up Clemmons? He is the only QB on our roster with ANY professional experience. And obviously Mangini knows enough to butt rape us in the draft.
Exactly. We need Clemens on our team in case of an injury, or if we plan to have Sanchez sit for a little bit
Great point I'm sure Tannenbaum wasn't going to let this trade collapse if Mangini asked for Clemens. It's clear that the only people who thought Clemens was a legitimate NFL QB were the Clemens-ites on this forum. I think this ven shows me that its even more likely that the Favre move wasn't Mangini's idea.
Why didn't the Browns take Clemens? I doubt that Tanny was saying no if the Browns asked for Clemens to make the trade. So is Clemens really that bad?
Well Mangini knows them both well and he probably preferred Ratliff. This isn't really surprising after last TC.
Clemens has "not it". That's probably unfair but for a guy with his tools he really hasn't impressed anybody.
Pretty much- I was never enamored with his physical skills either. Like others have said, I seriously doubt Tannenbaum would have hung up the phone if Mangini demanded Clemens instead of Ratliff. Mangini, by all indications, preferred Ratliff. Rex Ryan also clearly doesn't think Clemens is a franchise QB.
There are a lot of people still who think Clemens has great potential. If the Jets cut him he'll get signed by a good team very quickly. As a flyer to be sure, but still he'll get signed.
That and Ratliff is more of a long term project and may have more upside. The Browns did not need a guy who may be able to start this year. They needed a QB who can sit ofr a year or two and still have a shot at being an NFL starter or quality backup.
We didn't give up Clemens because Sanchez might not start. If Clemens goes int o the deal it's probably a 1 and a 3....
