Will New Orleans grab D'brickashaw? One rumor has Jets trading picks with Raiders by Dylan Butler/ Special to SNY.TV Mock draft. It?s those two special words for football fanatics as the NFL Draft gets closer and closer. There will be dozens and dozens of mock drafts this week and Pat Kirwan of NFL.com revised his. Kirwan has Houston taking Reggie Bush No. 1 overall and he has the Jets picking N.C. State defensive end Mario Williams after New Orleans took D?Brickashaw Ferguson from Virginia. As for the Giants at No. 25, Kirwan says the signings of LaVar Arrington and Brandon Short changes the team?s direction and sees them taking Miami tackle Eric Winston. And with the Jets second first round pick at No 29, he likes the selection of Memphis running back DeAngelo Williams, who he thinks could be Curtis Martin?s replacement. Picking Bush first overall shouldn?t be a no-brainer, Michael Smith of ESPN.com says. That is if the Texans are more interested in improving as a football team rather than instant ticket sales. According to Smith, Houston should be the one taking Miami?s Williams. Len Pasquarelli of ESPN.com says the grunt position of defensive tackle has become more of a focus among scouts while Len Robbins of the New York Post breaks down the top offensive linesmen available. Jets (fourth, 29th picks in first round) At the age of 37, Mike Tannenbaum is the youngest general manager in the NFL, but he isn?t nervous about his first draft. No, he did his homework with two first round picks and sought advise from a pair of football sages ? former Packers GM Ron Wolf and Bill Parcells in Florida, according to Rich Cimini of the Daily News. If Vince Young or Matt Leinart are available when the Jets pick at No. 4, Cimini said they might trade with the Raiders, who have the No. 7 selection, for and additional pick and then might select Maryland tight end Vernon Davis, considered to be the top tight end in a very good and deep class at that position this year. Speaking of Leinart, he appears to be ready to party Vegas style. The USC quarterback reportedly forked over $140,000 to secure more than two dozen rooms on the Las Vegas strip for a belated Draft party in May. Tannenbaum and Eric Mangini know the Jets fans will be screaming for one of the big three of quarterbacks ? Young, Leinart and Vanderbilt?s Jay Cutler ? at Radio City Music Hall Saturday, but it is unlikely they take a quarterback, even though they know how unpopular that will be with the fans. Giants (25th pick in first round) Ernie Accorsi used the words ?thoughtful,? ?intellectual,? and ?moving? to describe him and even if the Giants aren?t able to select Penn State defensive end Tamba Hali, the Teaneck, N.J. bred native of war-torn Liberia has succeeded on and off the field. I think the Saints will decide on either Brick or Mario and in the end I think they will take Mario. Mario is the BPA and they would have potentially the two best young DE's in the league.
Saints would never take Ferguson on the 2. If they really wanted him they would trade down to the 4 or even 6 and get him there. Williams is going to be their pick unless the Texans suddenly realize that Super Bowl teams are never built around top 5 runningbacks.
I've thought for a while that all of NO's moves suggest that they will take Brick, but just about every pundit has said mario is the #2 pick. Maybe it's wishfult hinking, but I really hope NO takes Brick.
NO need D'Brick more than any of these other players they are talking about... Only way I see it not happening is if the Saints believe they can get almost equal production from another OT later in the draft... If you want your QB to be happy, especially someone who is going to be throwing the football, then I think it is a must you draft him....
No they are going for Williams...Saw somewhere tha tthey were shopping Grant Huge Dissapointment for me.,.. I wish they took Brick though
Brees is gonna be one upset puppy. Just coming off a major injury and you don't invest in an insurance policy, is absolutley mind boggling.... The Saints will be always seen as the Aints if they don't draft D'Brick....
i dont see why they would go after williams. I think they'll end up trading out of that position and get AJ Hawk, they need some serious help at linebacker.
