http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4097641 Goergia quarterback Matthew Stafford has agreed to a six-year deal with the Lions, sources close to the quarterback told ESPN's Chris Mortensen. The contract is worth $41.7 million guaranteed over six years. The number could grow to $78 million with incentives. can grow to 78 million, thats more like the number i expected, i expected higher to be honest.
Stafford is the Lions', so, who will the Rams take next? I was secretly hoping for a shakeup at the top of the draft to see what would happen. I guess my wish didn't come true. In any case, lets assume the Rams will go for the better Smith. How does this affect us? It doesn't. Cheers.
I hate this No-Rookie salary scale crap. It automatically makes 90% of his teammates in Detroit hate the dude. If I was a 6 year vet that has taken my lumps and making $1.5m a year right now I'd be f'ing pissed.
I can see the Rams taking Smith next, then Curry going to KC. Everything seems to be falling right into place. I only hope Sanchez stays on the board past Seattle. That is my only worry. I want Sanchez so badly. If I were the Jets I'd offer 1st rounder, 3rd rounder and a 2nd rounder in 2010 to move up to 3 if we think Seattle will take him.
I bet the Chiefs will take Tyson Jackson at #3, he seems exactly the kind of player that Pioli loved to draft at New England.
Gil Brandt says that he guarantees that Jackson goes in top 5, he seems to always know what is really going on as opposed to Mayock, Kiper, McShay, et al. If St. Louis picks Smith or Curry and Chiefs take Jackson then Seattle would trade that 4 pick to Washington in my opinion. I would if I was them, Washington will overpay like they always do.
What if Curry falls to around 10, does anybody want the Jets to trade up for him? I figure you could but Curry at SOLB and have Pace rush the passer from the other side. Or have Curry start over Harris. Seems like a waste to have Harris on the bench, but if he backs up both ILB positions he'll get some decent playing time.
If your going to post it, at least get the numbers right. It's a 6yr $72 Million deal. Can reach $78 Million with incentives. $41.75 Million guaranteed.
Crazy money for a rookie , they need to get the rookie cap in place in the new CBA. Its punishing the poor teams year after year as they get lumbered with extortionate contracts for unproven players
No. If Aaron Curry is there at your pick - you take him. He's the best player in this draft...Sanchez is second.
THANK YOU Mel Kiper once said ... "Well it's obvious the NY Jets just don't understand the NFL draft and how it works" Well it's obvious Mr. E does
