Ray Lewis is one of the greatest LB's to ever play the game. So that is a bit ridiculous... If you said who would you rather have? Ogden or Vilma? I would say Ogden everytime.
If we are going to draft Brick hopefully we can trade with Oakland and maybe get a first rounder out of it next year.Cause the Raiders will suck.
Of course thats what everyone is hoping for, but I have heard that the Raiders have ZERO interest in trading their first rounder for next year...
this is the best case scenario for the jets in the draft (this is getting dbrick, but i wouldnt mind seeing any of the last 3 players i mention on the jets): Pick #1--texans: Reggie Bush Pick #2--saints: Mario Williams Pick #3--titans: one of the qbs (young or leinart, doesnt matter) Pick #4--JETS: trade to OAKLAND for the #7th pick and their 2nd rounder...they tak the other qb Pick #5--packers: aj hawk Pick #6--49ers: vernon davis Pick #7--RAIDERS: trade this pick plus 2nd rounder to Jets for #4 overall. Jets aquire Dbrick
If you don't think the Jets need a DT, I'd like to know what team you've been watching. That said I think the interest in Nagata is a smoke screen. However I think they'd love to trade down to #7 and happily take D'Brick, Vernon Davis, or A.J. Hawk. If Oakland is looking to trade up for a QB (as widely reported), than one of the 3 listed above will be there at #7.
I would rather see the Jets take Mario. It would be exciting to see him and Ellis go at the opposition. It all starts with defense.
we have a lot of holes to fill, and for anyone that thinks Nagata would be the better pick for us, well this deal w/ the raiders would give us anohter early 2nd round pick. and to me, that would help us much more.
That makes no sense. What is the "Smokescreen" if the Jets have no intention of moving from the 4th pick? The purpose of the the smokescreen would be to help them improve their draft position, whether it would be to move up or down. If your not looking to get any offers and stay put then you'll get whats left after the top 3 are picked. No need to position if you are already in your best position...Unless you think your fooling the teams above you which also doesn't make any sense. Unless you've seen the Jets Value Board then I can't imagine how you are so certain that they will stay put. They may see some great value in moving up, or more likely down.
It would be good but can the team afford to sign that many draft picks? How many would hold out? And no team has every draft pick pan out.
1. According to reports, the Jets are more than 10 mil under the cap. Signing all the picks is far from a problem. 2. The Jets have not had a hold out since Mangini joined the organization (and he was the main guy responsible for signing picks) 3. The "not every pick pans out" argument would if anything be an argument for trading down and collecting more picks since there is the chance of a pick not working out.
Johnathan Ogden, Orlando Pace, and Walter Jones were ALL selected in the top 7 of the draft and ALL three of them have played in at LEAST one superbowl each. Yes I know their are LT's taken that high who haven't gone to the SB, but it is obvious that if you strike gold with a beast LT, your team is gonna be pretty good. D'Brickashaw Ferguson would be a fantastic way to start the rebuilding of our team. Any fool who says Adrian Jones is too good to draft Brick has gotten sucked into the AJ hype...
if i hear the term "smoke screen" used one more time i am going to blow Herm Edwards' lying f--en head off...
