My bad. I have spent very little time watching him, but you're the first person I've seen who didn't say he had difficulty running inside the tackles. Everyone I've heard comment on the guy says he too frequently tries to turn it outside rather than using the inside lanes. I've also read that he's a much bigger threat in the open field than the backfield. That's why I thought he was a little bit too much like Leon to be a viable complement. Again, in the Pitt games I've seen, all I can say is he didn't really strike me as different from those scouting reports.

At what point does this kid "wow" you?

    Even better..

At what point does he remind anyone of a running style that isn't compared to what we arlready have in, Washington?

It is shockingly similar to me. I guess I'm blind.

I'm watching this video and all I am reminded of is, Washington. He isn't very good inside either, the highlights that have him running inside are sloppy and he seems to almost struggle against lesser opponents. I'm just not impressed myself, I could be wrong though. He just doesn't seem to do a lot inside, at least not someone that "wows" me on the inside run like Wells or Moreno.

I'm not buying it. He is phenominal in the flat and breaking an inside run to the outside for good yardage. I'll give him that.

Who does that remind you of though? Hmmmmm...

I Like the versitility Moreno brings. Doesn't run a "Great" 40 time but that means shit. He still has solid speed, Great move set and is a very good receiver. I dont think we should draft a Runningback at #17 but if our F.O. is going to get one i rather it be Moreno over Wells. I Like Donald Brown aswell but not that high.

    1. 15 seconds into the video from PITT 28, a run to the right side between the guard and center, McCoy makes a move to narrowly avoid two defenders being blocked into him, keeps it inside but cuts left and turns it into a seven yard run while breaking another tackle in the process.

    2. 1:05, ball again spotted at PITT 28, takes a hand-off to the left side and cuts it back in back inside and runs it down to the 41.

    3. 2:47 ball on BUF 19, trap play left, cuts right and takes the ball up the middle for a 17 yard game.

    4. 4:02 ball on PITT 18 (WTF Wannstedt? You can't recruit one fast guy to play KR?) fake WR screen (I can't tell who looks worse running this: Brett Favre or Bill Stull), blocking goes to shit, McCoy fights it up the middle to the 24.

    5. 4:27 ball on IOWA 27, trap right, McCoy rips it up the middle and cuts it outside for a 27 yd TD run. Yea, he's cutting it outside again but how does this play not "wow" you.

I know he's better at running it outside than inside, his major strengths are his speed and elusiveness. My question is how can you look at this and not see promise for an inside game. Look at the frame on this kid, he could easily add on a few pounds and start punishing people up the middle with a greater ease.

As for his tendency to bounce it outside instead of following the lead blockers which you pointed out, let's take a look at who is coaching the five guys in front of McCoy...TONY FUCKING WISE. Remember when his piece of shit ass got ran out of here?

I've seen McCoy run outside and make people miss like Leon does, but I haven't seen Leon run inside like McCoy does. If you're looking at the draft for a complete back then you're probably set with either McCoy or Moreno but if you want a true power back to go up the middle then the choice sure as shit isn't in this poll. It's Shonn Greene.

I missed #5 the first time I watched that video highlight, and your right, that play did "wow" me. You have a very valid point with Tony Wise, I actually had no idea he went to Pitt, I can't fault him there at all. You could very well be right.

    But..

Since he does not have that added weight to his frame that you were referring to, it is hard for me to picture this kid being anything other than his current physical status. Which is currently not very appealing to me, but with some bulk, who knows?

I'm not saying McCoy is a bad RB. My arguement is that he simply does not "wow" me like the other RB's that are currently being debated. I think he is a very similar back to, LW. That won't change until I can see what he will do at he next level. I believe he will be an impact player in he same light as, Washington.

So for me, I just want a RB that will compliment LW the very best, given we do draft a RB in this draft. I just don't think that player will be, McCoy.

Very good argument though, sir. I like your points.

    Ronnie Brown
    Shaun Alexander
    Jamal Lewis
    Deuce McCallister
    Fred Taylor
    Stephen Davis
    Rudi Johnson
    Domanick Davis
    Terrell Davis

The SEC has had plenty of successful RB's. McFadden and Felix Jones from last year will probably be added to this list.

And for the Big 10 RB's, lets not forget:

    Ron Dayne
    Curtis Enis
    TJ Duckett
    Ladell Betts
    Anthony Thomas
    Michael Bennett
    Ki-Jana Carter
    Tim Biakabatuka

All guys who had success in the Big 10 and haven't lived up to their billing in the NFL. Lots of busts from the Big 10.

I like Knowshon, not that I think we will go RB in round 1 though. Beanie is the type of guy that will not hold up very well in this league. As said before he is a stand up style runner with out a lot of flashy moves. Chris Brown (Titans) and Lamont Jordan come to mind when I see him.

I don't think Greene will drop to the 3rd round either. But, I'm a Hawkeye fan, so I am a little biased.

I voted Moreno, but i think it is very close between him and Donald Brown.
If they take RB, i hope they find a way to trade back a touch, and select Brown.
Just need to land him before Pats and Ariz, as both have their eyes on him.

Wells is missing something in the toughness dept for me. We can get a bigger back outside of round 1 if that is what FO wants.

if they do anything in the first its gonna be QB WR RB in that exact order and if they go RB they might as well wait til the second and get donald brown i like him better then moreno and beanie at this point.. i could see him being around for years as the work horse back...

why the hell does anyone wanna take a runningback when we invested in thomas jones and leon washingtion. forget about RB we have bigger issues to address like QB and WR. We NEED a Quarterback. If rex thinks our whack bench will be able to do anything this year against elite defenses, then he isn't serious baout going to the playoffs.

ummm if you havent noticed thomas jones is on the wrong side of 30 number one and the way he is acting with his contract 9 out of 10 times you get traded away and lose the respect of your teammates who are in there learning the new system from the HC....
