Jets | Team had pre-draft visit with Croyle; team giving him consideration
    Tue, 25 Apr 2006 08:39:55 -0700

Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports the New York Jets conducted a pre-draft visit with Alabama QB Brodie Croyle Friday, April 21. The team is giving some consideration to selecting him in the second round of the NFL Draft. Croyle has his supporters and detractors. The latter don't like his build, a slender 6 feet 3 and 204 pounds, or that in the Crimson Tide's loss to archrival Auburn last season, he was sacked 11 times. But his supporters love how he bounces up after those sacks and the poise and composure he displays in between.

I didn't see this posted today and I thought it was worth discussing more. This guy is my favorite of the second tier QB's and I have no problem with us taking him at 35. Thoughts?

Wow the main thing they're talking about is how he can sit there and get hit, nothing about his arm. Not that i don't already know

Totally agree there is no way he is being drafted in round two. I wouldn't even draft him in round three.

Eh, not in the 2nd round. That's a bit too high for a guy like Croyle. He seems like a great player and reminds me and many others of Joe Namath a little... Yet the last thing this team needs is a small, frail looking QB.

When we select a QB, it should be a bigger/healthier guy.

I'd be happy with him in the 3rd, he's my favorite out of all the QBs besides the big 3.

Yeah you guys are probably right...If he is available with our first 3rd rounder though I would snatch him up.

I think if he just puts some meat on his bones, he'd be better off but we could still consider Jacobs or Whitehurst in the 3rd or 4th round.

While there are things about Croyle and Clemens I like, but have enough issues and flaws that I would not take them before pick #71

I love this idea... If we go defense or OL in round 1, Croyle at 35 would be fantastic. Let him duke it out with Ramsey and Penny this season and be ready to start by 2007. With protection, this kid could be special. He needs to bulk up a little, but his arm is magnificent and he is tough as nails... This would be a great idea..

Croyle in the 2nd rnd is an overdraft
I will be suprised if he is not there for us with our 1st 3rd rnd pick.

There are things to like about Croyle and he could develope into a decent pro. That said, he does not have prototypical size and average athleticism as well as two past serious knee injuries.

Buyer beware before our 2nd 3rd round pick.

His Height is fine its his bulk that he needs to work on. Also his Athleticism is not a concern of mine.

Tom Brady compares to Brodie Croyle coming out of college very much so. Not the injuries part, but the thin frame and crappy athleticism is alot like Brady...

I think he is worth that early third rounder and if he is there when we pick, I hope we take him.

I like the kid's attitude and character, but do NOT want the JETS drafting him at the top of rd 2!

We need to get our Qb of the future this draft.. IMO one of these 5 Qbs will be a Jet this Saturday.. In order of my preference..

    1. Leinart- Forget all this Hollywood image BS, this kids gonna be a great QB, if he is available at 4 I would be shocked if we passed on him..

    2. Cutler- If we do trade down to 7, I gotta believe he is the guy we are targeting. IMO that is the best case scenario. I will be mighty happy if we get Cutler and a pick with our first first rounder..

    3. Young- The upside can't be ignored. If i thought he was Vick, he wouldn't be on the list. Its gonna suck watching him be one of the most dominating players in the game in 5 years.

    4. Clemons- I like guys who drop down because of injuries and than rise back up when they start to get healthy.. It seems like he fell off the radar for awhile when he got hurt. Now after studying film of him before he got hurt plus the individual meetings he is back on the radar..

    5. Croyle- I think he is either going to become a great Qb or a Qb who's career is ruined by injuries. There is alot to like about him as a Qb but for me I'm a little gun shy about Qbs which are prone for injury..

If we don't get one of the big 3, I would imagine we target one of the other two with our first 3rd rounder..

Kellen Clemens would be nice...he reminds me of a bulkier Drew Brees. Same kind of balls out football player that we need at QB.
