    http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2009/04/nfl_changes_time_of_new_york_j.html

The NFL just announced that it has rescheduled the Jets-Titans game on Sunday, September 27th from 4:15 p.m. to 1 p.m. because of a conflict with a Jewish Holy Day.

The change was made to accomodate fans who celebrate Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of atonement, begins at sundown on September 27.

As a result of this schedule change, the Giants-Buccaneers game from Tampa and the Titans-Jets game will be televised head to head on different networks in the New York market starting at 1:00 PM ET on September 27.

What the hell is that crap? Couldn't the league switch the Giants-Bucs game to 4:15?
    Unbelievable.

The Jets are conspiring against people who have their 21st birthday the night before that.

Please keep this nonsense out of the thread. We're trying to have a holy war.

Is this not setting a very bad precedent?? how can the NFL grant such a change for the Jewish fans and not grant the same provisions for any other faith.... it could start a argument of intolerance of other faiths, that doesn't happen very often where religion is concerned

Its because the nature of the holiday is different from that of christmas. First of all, its more serious. Also, many people will want to go to temple and finally many people do not drive on the holiday.

What do you mean it's more serious than Christmas? Maybe to you it is. Those Jewish holidays don't mean jack shit to many of us here.

Football shouldn't make provisions to any religion, especially if they are not going to do it for all religions, it doesn't matter it some christians don't give a shit.

    Okay then.

    ___

I dislike the idea of a sporting event being changed to cater to a religion.

I'm not religous and I found that offensive. Christmas is totally awesome.
