Then Joe Gibbs comes in and says Ramsey is the starter and then pulls him halfway thru the first game of the year

Actually Ramsey got clotheslined by Lance Briggs in game 1 that's why he didnt return. But I do aggree he was given the shaft in Washington.

Actually, Many QB's get clotheslined during the course of a regular season game and still finish the game.

Ramsey took the hit from Briggs in the 2nd quarter and left the game with a shoulder and neck stinger. He was fine and more than ready to get back in the game by Halftime.

He was even quoted after the game saying " I was fine by halftime and obviously wanted to get back in there to help the team but it's not up to me"

Interpretation: Gibbs is underhanded and had planned on replacing me with Brunell regardless of what lameass excuse he was gonna give me for not going back in the game.

Ramsey did get hit, however he was NOT injured or hurt. He was banged up just like every other starting QB in the league.

Gibbs can call it what he wants but every real skins fan knows that he brought in Mark Brunell to be his starter. He's a Gibbs qb and Ramsey was not.

Regardless, Ramsey is with the Jets now and I hope he succeeds.

We'll just have to wait and see on Ramsey.

He's got a good arm and he's tough. If his footwork improves some and he adjusts to the Jet's system we might have a QB there.

So far his prior track record has been poor which is the reason he is being projected as a 1 year wonder.

Here's how I see it playing out, chad will not be ready by camp and may never really be 100% again. So that makes ramsey our starter (which I was against from the get go). Best case scenario the coaching staff stand behind him this year as our starter and then it's on him. He gets the chance that he's been bitching for in washington the last 2 years. Then all of you can cross your fingers with me and hope ramsey can live up to his 1st rd status.
Oh and btw how many of you are going to get ramsey jerseys???

I will hold off on getting the jersey, only because I hear all this talk ( none from the Jets) about Ramsey being here for 1 yr. If he resigns and is the starting QB... I would.

i wouldnt mind seeing Young on our team, but Croyle in the 3rd would be great. if anything hes Cutler with injuries, Cutler gets praised for losing in the SEC while people forget Croyle always put up a tough game. i watched him since he was a freshman, he was doomed by questionable playcalling, a AT BEST avg offensive line, and numerous injuries to starting RB's,OL, and WR's.

if people want to talk about Chad Pennington's "gamer" mentality. this kid has it written all over him.

on another note, I dont think people should write Ramsey off so soon. He was stuck on a team where they focused more on FA signings then they did playing football. Gibbs wasnt willing to see if Ramsey was worth it, so they brought in Brunell, someone whos lead a team to the playoffs.

then again im not saying hes the answer, but i'd feel just as good as having Ramsey as I would a rookie with great upside.

we need a franchise answer at QB/RB but we have some good pacifiers until that comes, whether it be this weekend or 1 or 2 yrs from now.

I think Ramsey will do much better playing for the Jets. As long as you protect him better than you did Pennington....

That would be nice. Although I can rest a bit easier knowing that he is more resiliant than Pennington. This means I won't have to pray to baby Jesus every time he takes a hit.

if Croyle is going to be as good as Chad, and as injury prone as Chad, I would pass on him and get 1 of the more sturdy second tier choices.. i.e. Jacobs, Clemons, whitehurst, Olsen etc...

The fans don't have to give him a chance, he has already had numerous chances and has failed to take advantage of those chances to this date. Until proven otherwise, I can't see that changing.

Shortly after leaving the Redskins, Lavar Arrington did an interview on a radio show in D.C. in which he was asked his opinion of Patrick Ramsey. He said that Ramsey's problem in Washington was that he was never the coach's guy.

Patrick was Dan Snyder's pick. Spurrier started ex-Gators Danny Weurfel and Shane Matthews before finally acknowledging that Ramsey was his best quarterback.

After his return to the Redskins, Joe Gibbs first move was to trade for Mark Brunell and give him a contract worth $43 million. Despite that, Ramsey won the starting job after taking over for Brunell in 2004.

In a town that loves Joe Gibbs and would like to believe that he can do no wrong, two out of three Redskins fans polled on a fansite agreed that Patrick Ramsey had never been given a fair shot to succeed in a Redskin uniform.

Don't be surprised if he gets a standing ovation from the crowd at FedEX when he enters the game in the Jets-Skins preseason game.

I am just hoping that he comes in here with his head screwed on straight.. focused and ready to do the job...

We can all surmise that Chad is not Tangini's guy.. so since they brought in Ramsey, they will likely give him all the chances possible.. and since he is clearly tougher than Chad, he will not likely lose his job via an injury..

I'll give Ramsey a chance. He will get a chance. He has to make the most of it, though. Sometimes a clean slate is magic, unless you're Ryan Leif, then nothing can help.

lets not forget how putrid the offense was when ramsey was there he had to be coached by the worst pro coach there was in spurrier. you cant look at his body of work there and assume hes bad. he never got a chance with gibbs he wanted a vet.
hes a big kid, strong arm can scramble around. lets not forget drew bress got benched in favor of doug flutie so to say he sucks is a bit premature

    Ramsey & Coach Gibbs

One of the reasons why Coach Gibbs had little confidence in Ramsey was that Ramsey would change plays on him. Ramsey is an extremely intelligent QB and can read defenses quickly. His problem is that he is too aggressive and thinks he can make every throw.

On a third and long, Coach Gibbs would be conservative and call for a run off tackle, Ramsey would instantly change the play and go for the yardage through the air. I can remember one play where Ramsey rolled his eyes when he received the play from Coach Gibbs as if to say, don't you want to get the yards needed? Coach was really perturbed by this and probably sealed Ramsey's fate with the Redskins. Brunnell is just the opposite and hardly ever changes the play. We saw that in the playoffs where the Resdkins set the record for the most inefficient offense in history. 120 total yards for the game.

He's a great pickup for the Jets, actually a steal. He's also one tough SOB.

WOW!!!!!... Plebian... it sounds like you were in the huddle with the team.. I am optimistic that Ramsey will pan out, and hopeful he won't be too much Peyton Manning ( changing plays at the line) until he has led the the team through a few big wins, playoffs included..
