After all the pre draft moves and Rex Ryan's past we have a good idea of the defensive philosophy of the team, but, How do you see the offense evolving under Ryan?

Run heavy, lots of quick/short throws I guess, low turnover (ideally), field position battle

Two TE sets, but still a lot of shifting (and then running dives).

Yep, this makes the most sense. If our D in hot this year, it will be already like the offense has 10 points on the board before kickoff.

well..Schotty's still running the offense....so I would expect a lot of formation shifting....and of course, the gadget plays.

I guess they are going to try the Game Manager approach, but I think it's impossible to tell what the gameplans will look like until they decide on a starting QB...

I think we're just going to punt on offense and let the defense take care of scoring for us.

LAst year the shifting aspect was played down at farve's request. I would expect to see a return to the Multiple shifts this season. Ratliff and Clemens have had much more time under his system and he should feel much more comfortable running those under him.

I still think we will be much more of a ball controll team. Hopefully not to the "Marty Ball" extent, but the apple does not often fall far from the tree.

all the pre snap shifting in 2006 will return. The two competition QBs know the offense enough to handle all that wonderful stuff. I'm looking forward to seeing that again.

With a deep shot taken once or twice a game depending on the team and score.

    Kinda sounds like the ravens.

Don't you need a second TE on the roster for that to happen?

That is not the type of offense that Schott would want to run but was forced to somewhat by CP and Brett. The "Cleveland" offense that Schott runs is actually a medium to long range passing attack which fits in well with the "all weather" offense Ryan wants to run. It is NOT a quick/short throw type of offense.

    Think Paul Hackett in 2002.

Johnnysd, tell us more about this "Cleveland" offense. I was never really sure whose coaching tree Brian S. developed from. Although I do recall reading about him being influenced heavily by Steve Spurrier.

I thought the same, short passing, control the ball type offense, limit mistakes, throw in some gimmick plays and occassionally spread the field...

given that I think we have a pretty solid offensive core, I think if we add one of the top 4 or 5 WR in the draft ( I really like Britt big strong playmaker) we could really have a productive offense, KC has the ability to excell in this type of offense based on his pre draft reviews and his limited starts behind an awful O-Line and Ratliff could surprise us either way I think we look pretty good.

Look for best player available after the WR pick maybe one of the running backs for the future or get a good blocking TE to complement Keller, O-line is always a good move as well.

    Ding ding ding...

They may be drawing from the same expansive playbook that Schotty has been using, but the actual gameplan won't be drawn from the larger playbook until a QB has been settled upon and the offense is in place. Anybody who tries to fit unsuited players into a set gameplan either has his hands tied by time (2007 Jets) or doesn't deserve to be coaching in the NFL.
