Sheffield close to signing with the Mets

    Gary Sheffield will be the excuse why the Mets didnt win the NL East..:rofl:

    Great pickup for the Mets...Great pickup. I was wishing the Rays would go after Sheffield for the simple fact he's born and raised right here in St.Petersburg, FLorida and it would have been a good place for him to retire as a baseball player.

    I wish the Rays woulda went after Sheff, I mean...He's not the Sheffield of old but he's still a solid hitter these days.

    Well, now thinking about it...We really have no room for a guy like Sheffield because we already have Burrell as our DH hitter and that man has been a stud out in Phillly over the years and his power numbers should go up now that he doesnt have to play the outfield and can focus simply on hitting the ball and driving runs on it.

    Good pickup for the Mets, but why would Sheffield go to a NL team? He shoulda went to an AL team as a DH

    with sheff at 499 and delgado at 469 they will prob both his 500 this year. have two players ever acheived this while on the same team same season?
