I do question one thing on Greene, and that is if he loves the game. Before he became a star at Iowa, he was a mover or something. No doubt hes a hard worker, but if he sees a million dollar paycheck, one Im sure hes never even smelt, will he just go through the motions?

Man, he has amazing balance and puts himself in position to not take a big hit. I want to draft Greene so bad.

    Thats a good thing.

You sign him to a 5 year deal, He's cheap through out his whole career....Especially if you get two more years out of TJ....

    That's a wonderful cap issue.

Ok I have to admit I've been underrating this guy for a while just because I haven't payed much attention to him...but after looking through some of his stuff and watching this video my opinion has changed.

Shonn Greene Has Solid Showing At Iowa Pro Day
Posted by Mike Florio on March 23, 2009, 8:35 p.m.
When the top running backs for the 2009 draft are identified, Iowa’s Shonn Greene often is overlooked.

His Pro Day workout could change that.

Per a league source, 29 teams attended Greene’s session.

He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.50 and 4.54 seconds.

His vertical leap was 39 inches, a two-inch improvement over his Scouting Combine performance. Greene launched a 10′6″ broad jump, good for a five-inch improvement.

He pushed up 23 reps in the 225-pound bench press, a four-rep improvement over his Combine performance.

Per the source, the 227-pounded looked explosive and agile in running back drills.

    Greene opted to sacrifice his

^If he actually ran 4.50, that's really impressive.

What this tells me, Shonn Greene took his pro-day to heart...unlike Mr. Nicks.

Exactly my thoughts. Perhaps Jabba's rating of him wasn't as far off as I initially thought. 52 might be a good spot for him if McCoy and Brown are indeed gone by then (as they should be).

I'd be surprised if Greene makes it past the 2nd round and personally prefer him as a 2nd round pick over taking backs like Wells, Brown and McCoy in the first. Moreno is probably the only back I'd be happy with the Jet's talking as a 1st rounder. Wells might have been my favorite except the record strongly suggests he's just too injury prone, soft (on playing hurt) or both which makes him too risky as an early round selection in my mind. Sort of an anti-Curtis Martin in that respect. While Wells has more of a top gear to enable long gains, I think Greene is more consistent in gaining positive yardage and a better overall YPC average. Against common opponents, Greene significantly outperformed Wells. In 2008, against Northwestern Wells gained 140 yds on 28 carries (4.5 avg) while Greene had 159 on 21 totes (7.5 avg). Against MSU Wells was 31-140 (4.5) in a blowout win for OSU while Greene managed 30-157 (5.2) in a losing effort. Finally, against Wisconsin, Wells totaled 22-168 (7.6) 1 TD while Greene erupted with 25-217 (8.6) 4 TDs. Their totals against common opponents in 2008 looks like this: Wells 81-448 (5.5 avg.) and Greene 76-533 (7.0 avg).

Greene, if needed, could be ready to step in as a three down back his rookie season whereas McCoy and Brown are regarded by many not being NFL ready for much more than change of pace or early down duty as their pass protection blocking is not perceived to be at a reliable level as of yet. I also don't see where McCoy offers any added value over Leon.

Then how about this guy in the 4th or 6th round: Tony Fiametta FB Syracuse http://www.draftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/fb/Tony-Fiammetta.php

Looks like a Le'Ron McClain type. Personally, I'd like to see someone like Andre Brown, James Davis or even Shonn Greene in the 3rd or 4th round..

    EXACTLY RIGHT

When you look at all of his significant improvements from the combines to his pro day, that speaks very well of Shonn Greene, it says here is a young man who is obviously working his @$$ off and treating this process like a professional .. which is not surprising, this young man knows what it means to work hard for what he hopes to achieve

This is not some immature kid .. this young man "gets it" and he doesn't assume anything is owed to him

No doubt, at his size and when you consider his strength is as a power-back, to run a 4.51 and 4.54 is very good

Shonn is like smaller version of Brandon Jacobs except he has much better feet and runs with a substantially lower pad level.
