I am psyched for this option. I can walk to the train station from where I live, get to Secaucus in like 30 minutes, then get to the game in another 10-15. To be fair, the buses from Secaucus last year were pretty sweet, too. No one rode them, and they were empty with zero lines. But this should hopefully be a nice option, too. I usually met up with some friends who still drive in and grill and all that. In my days, we had some massive tailgates, and I'd like to do that again, but at this point, I'm glad to remove driving from my Jets occasion, so I'll probably take the train to most games next year. I'd take a bag full o' beers, a couple sandwiches or snacks or even food to grill, then just meet friends in the lot. Simple, safer, cheap, and less traffic. Not bad.
I totally agree train rider fans will be getting super smashed knowing they dont have to drive the hell home. I too live within walking or taxi distance to and from the train. PARTY ON Hey Woody im here to spackle.......
I just hope they run this well. I tried the Port Authority bus two years ago a few times. I'm in NJ and actually rode into NYC then back into NJ for the games. It sounds ridiculous, but going there, the bus to NYC took 45 minutes then it was another 12 to the stadium. Not bad, but then getting out was a mess sometimes. For some reason, on some games they'd let the line queue up forever without starting buses until some arbitrary point after the games. This year when they started the Secaucus buses, for some reason no one was taking them. I swear, I think there were two times where I was literally the only person on the bus to the stadium. Another time or two it was me and like 1 other person. Then going back, they started the buses based on demand. So if you wanted to leave a couple minutes early, the buses would already be going (I know, you should always stay until the end, but if for whatever reason you had to go, you had the option). If they plan capacity and schedules well here, it could be really nice. I could also see some really rowdy, drunken trains. That could also be pretty fun, though Lastly, remember - you can drink beer on NJ Transit trains. A ritual of mine is a Krispy Kreme doughnut and a beer on the way home from a night out boozing in NYC (I may not live too long But don't drink on NYC subways as I think that can lead to arrests...
Thats right the NJTRANSIT brown bag............. The party train has left the station.......................
Hell yeah. Tuck it near your package. They don't pat down there. No one else will want to share but then there's more for you.
I can see an hour wait to get on a train out of the stadium. I was there yesterday, there is 2 tracks but the station takes one train at a time. Its gonna be a mess getting out of the stadium, one train at a time. They are worried about people queing up out of the stadium. Once again, things are done 1/2 ass. My friend gave us a tour of the stadium yesterday and explained the rail system
so....i can barrow the sandwitch truck i buy burgers out of m-f and park it next to the train depot and sell $20 dogs and $12 warm beers?????? saaaaweeeeet!!!!
I can just hear the parking lot cleanup crew after that first opening game: "Hey Joe, WTF is with all these empty spackle buckets? There must be 2,000 of them lying around the parking lot."
