Some recent info...interesting, but not surprising. SANCHEZ TO WORK OUT WITH JETS, COLTS Posted by Mike Florio on March 6, 2009, 8:42 p.m. Though not necessarily revealing as to a team?s actual intentions, the fact that an NFL franchise plans to have a private workout with a top prospect is typically newsworthy. From the Los Angeles Daily News comes word that USC quarterback Mark Sanchez will have private workouts with the Jets and the Colts before USC?s Pro Day on April 1. The Jets hold the No. 17 overall pick in round one of the April draft, and the Colts have the No. 27 selection.
The Colts? They have a QB, they have a backup QB and they pick 27th. Seems weird to me. What if they are thinking of trading Peyton and rebuilding?
Peyton has been in the league a long time. He's not going to last forever. So they have to start planning for the future eventually. And Sanchez needs time to develop. What better learning environment could a young QB have than watching Peyton ? At 27 it would be good value to take Sanchez.
Just b/c he is a QB from USC doesn't make him worthy of even the first round. This guy is massssively overrated. Every single year there are equivalents to Mark Sanchez; he is not a franchise QB and just b/c you need a QB doesn't mean you should waste a first rounder on a mediocre one. Frankly there is no QB in this draft that I'd pick in the 1st round.
I say good news for the Jets. Personally I think he may be our answer because I have very little hope in Clemens and only a little more with Ratliff.
I tend to agree, but the possibility for Dirty Sanchez headlines in the Post is almost too good to pass up
I can't help but thinking that all of this draft talk is a waste of time...the Jets always blow it anyway...with the dropping of Nugent (2nd round), what's left of that 2005 draft? We didn't even have a first round pick because we traded it for Doug Jolley!
I don't think Tampa Bay will take him. They just resigned a young QB to a decent contract and expect him to start. If Gruden were still there then maybe. But otherwise he's doubtful. Detroit's second first round pick (from Dallas - which is in the low 20's) would be a good choice for Sanchez. They really don't have any QB on the roster that will still be there in 3 years. So the team needs obvious help there. And Sanchez has a legit NFL arm. That low in the draft you can take a chance on a QB with potential. So it could happen.
I agree. Just look at all the amazing reviews and information he gave us to tell why Sanchez will be a bust its obvious he's skilled as a player evaluator. Oh wait he didn't. Yea, he's just another punk spouting off after reading an article.
Come on, guys. Let's encourage the new board members not scare them off. We were all noobs at one point . . . At least give them the opportunity to back up their posts with some additional info.
Thats what I would love to see. Sanchez will bust because of poor footwork. His arm is not top notch. His lack of starting experince. Give a reason. Don't just drop by and say "so and so will bust" then leave. Give a reason for it. Any reason would do.
