na hes actuallly def a better kicker for fgs than like kickoffs if thats wut u mean...but ya we got feely but that was before i guess we thought we had good shot at singing him im guessin well cut feely but who nos maybe we keep him for reall long fgs/kickoffs cuz its key for kicker to kick ball off to the endzone for touchbacks..ha member how bad nugent was at that!!! 2nd rounfer eww
unless he wants to punt, Feely took the kicker spot on this team... if Stover can punt, come on over.
ha stover mihgt be 41 but hes way better than feely cant even compare the two..r u kidding...we wouldnt sign stover for some serious kicker cash unless we wanted him to start and hes def an upgrade over feely.....hes sick..ryan nos what he wants and gets players he wants...
I know it sounds crazy but maybe Feely will handle the kickoff duties while Stover takes care of the FGs and extra points. It sounds far fetched because that's 2 roster spots with kickers. Oh wait... just read the article.... bad info dude. "The Jets ended up re-signing Jay Feely, leaving Stover to look for other opportunities"
stovers just lot better u cant compare the 2 fine then maybe wel cut feely buti no feely is very solid at kickoffs and stovers leg isnt as strong as it used tooso stover for fgs and feely for kickoffs
Actually, according to PFT, the Jets offered Stover a contract, the Ravens told him that they didn't want him anymore and then the Jets signed Feely. (This is also in the Feely thread.) STOVER?S DAYS AS A RAVEN ARE OVER Posted by Mike Florio on March 5, 2009, 10:51 p.m. Kicker Matt Stover, a fixture in Baltimore since the inception of the franchise (note that we no longer say that the team is actually the first edition of the Cleveland Browns . . . oops), will no longer be doing his thing for the Ravens. Stover tells our own Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times that the Ravens have informed the man who joined the Ravens/Browns via Plan B free agency in 1991 that it is ?going in a different direction.? The issue came to a head when Stover told the Ravens that he had received an offer to sign with the Jets. ?That answer made it very clear that they are not looking to keep me because they told me to go ahead and sign the contract with the Jets,? Stover told Wilson. ?It was a real offer from the Jets. The Ravens are going in a different direction now.? The Jets ended up re-signing Jay Feely, leaving Stover to look for other opportunities. ?The big thing for me is I realize the privilege I?ve had to play this game and the opportunities that it has given me as a person and economically,? Stover said. ?I have no regrets from the past. I?m excited about my future.? As for the Ravens, the job could fall to Steve Hauschka, who handled kickoffs and the occasional long field goal as a rookie.
Maybe 5 years ago I would be happy to sign Stover but his leg is no stronger than Feelys. We still need a guy to kickoff deep.
kaloshiJETS just proved to us how much he sucks as a poster - the article doesn't say anything about Stover coming to the Jets. He was offered, but Feely re-signed. From what I've heard, Stover got an offer from the Jets and ran back to Baltimore like the kicker-bitch that he is...he hoped to get a better offer, but FAILED...just like this thread.
I was hoping the Ravens would go for Piotr Czech for placekicker; he almost beat out Stover last year and graduated from my local high school. And our high school is known for absolutely nothing other than being a gigantic piece of shit.
Yeah.. Stover is at the point where he can't hit long field goals or kick off.. I'd take Jay Feely over him without a question.
Stover - "I am going to play physical, violent football...." "I'm gonna kick the ball so hard it splits!"
Stover to Jets? The Baltimore Sun has reported that the Jets had made an offer to Ravens kicker Matt Stover. Stover, a free agent, said he approached the Ravens with an offer he had received from the New York Jets on Monday. The Ravens informed him they were moving on, according to the kicker, 41, the only player remaining from the team?s relocation from Cleveland.
