Simple question. I just wanna know if he had a private workout for us yet and if anybody has an opinion on it, your welcome to post it.
Yeh thats about the only possible top 10 picke they havent visited, strange, It sounds like interest in Hawk and Young is low, and Davis is not on the radar as of yet
I know it is somewhat of a longshot but I would not mind drafting this kid at all. He is a MONSTER. I know that we got a few other needs that are to be addressed, but we got plenty of picks to work with (3 in the top 35). I know 4 would be early for him, but damn this kid is going to be a machine.
I think I would be upset if they drafted a TE that high. You do that kinda stuff when your a good team already and your just looking for a couple players to fill your needs. This is not the case in our situation. Yes I think Vernon Davis will be amazing, but we do not have the luxury of picking a player like him now. I like baker anyway, I would like to see baker play more this year and see how well he does, and forget about jolley.
With holes at OL, DL, RB, and possibly the need for another LB, why would the Jets WASTE the #4 pick on a tight end??????????
We would not have anybody to throw the ball to Vernon though and even if we did get a QB to throw to him we would have no time to throw him the ball because the OL is horrible.
so get mangold or someone later in the draft... with the type of skill (leinart, davis, hawk) available at the #4 slot we should not take an OL, no matter how elite he can be.
Drafting Davis isnt really a waste at number 4...if anything drafting D'brick is a waste. First round in my eyes should be used to get some playmakers, you can use our later picks for quality O-linemen. Vernon Davis is regarded as the best reciever in this draft, and someone who can catch the damn ball and draw some mismatches is what we'r lacking big time.
We have two average TEs already, plus this is probably the most talented TE class in the history of the NFL draft-why take Vernon when we can take a guy like Marcedes Lewis with our 29 or 35. And dont tell me D'brick is a waste because every team needs a franchise LT
This draft is deep when it comes to O-Line, thats y u draft a vernon davis(or one of the other playmakers) and then stack up on linemen later in the draft.
i would love davis, i dont know much about his blocking ability but i do know how dominant good catching TEs are in the game today
Some food for thought ........ 1) If Davis is or gets good at run blocking, you have helped improved your O line while you improve your receiving game. 2) His presence should create mismatches for hte D that will allow our QB to get rid of the ball quicker to open receivers - helping protect the QB. 3) Supposedly Brick is far from polished - especially in the run. 4) You can find tackles that can hold the DE off for 3 seconds or more in other rounds. You will not find an animal like this in other rounds. Williams or Davis - or maybe, just maybe Hawk. NO BRICK!!!!!!!
I agree with everyone on here who says NO offensive line with the 4th overall pick. We definately need playmakers, whether it is on O or D. For all those people who say that Davis' playmaking ability (or anyone elses, for that matter) won't matter if we dont have OL that can give the QB time to throw to him.........why do you think that Brick is the only OL who can do that?????? This draft is deep with OL and we hvae the most picks in this draft. We can address OL with our later picks. THE #4 OVERALL PICK IN THE DRAFT SHOULD BE USED ON A PLAYMAKER....EITHER SIDE OF THE BALL.
