Who is the next big free agent signing you would like to see the Jets make?

I personally, want Chris Canty. He's from the BX, it only makes sense to bring him back to NY.

If we sign Canty, that would fill another gap on the team:

    Lito (CB)
    Leonhard (Unofficially, as a Safety)
    Moore (OG)
    Ivy (Depth at CB)
    Bart Scott (ILB)

I hope that the Front Office either drafts a DE, DT, WR or RB with the first pick, to address the rest of the needs. (I hope to god they do not chase after a QB... that would suck.)

Mike Tannenbaum is impressing me right now with the moves he is making alongside Rex Ryan.

They are not playing games. They are evaluating the talent and they will make the most out of what will be given to them.
I doubt the Jets draft a LB in this years draft, even in the later rounds. I would prefer, at least, Jasper Brinkley to add depth but hopefully the starting line-up Week 1 will be, Gholston, Scott, Harris, Pace. In the secondary, Lito/Lowery, Revis, Rhodes, Leonhard.

My only knock on Leonhard is that he's 5'8" his size will get exploited when he's matched up on man with tight ends out of the box.
I would prefer a safety with more size and speed, but if Rex Ryan is confident in Leonhard than so am I.

I would assume they draft the BAP at #17; hoping it's a DE or WR.

probably leonhard, but i really hope they go for a WR. They really need to do something about the Receiver situation.

I didn't see his name franchised on the database I got from NFL.com
    Fuck it,
Scratch that one. I'd replace him but I can't.

I think this one's pretty obvious... Leonhard.

Though I admit Canty would be very interesting, and he is interested in playing in New York.

Why Leonhard when he stands at 5'8", and obviously is personally endorsed by our head coach?

I think there are better suited players that could play S, or we could wait for 2010 when there are better safeties coming out of college, because I doubt Leonhard is going to come cheap. If he does, I will shit my pants. Quote me on that one.

The thread title doesn't really match the question in your post. I like Canty but I think Leonhard will be the next man signed.

Lechler re-signed about a week ago
I think its clear that of the names listed it will be leonhard
I don't even think we talk to anyone else on that list
I'd expect ivy and leonhard to sign tomorrow...I'n interested to see who they target after that

I think we may still have a trade or two left. Apparently Cleveland will trade anybody on their team which includes Edwards and Anderson. Edwards would be great at the right price.

Houshmandzadeh is still out there and we apparently still have a lot of money left so that's another interesting possibility which I am surprised wasn't in the poll.

leonhard is the obvious one. though like some have posted i would like a wr brought in. cotchery is not a #1 wr and i would not mind trading for edwards or signing housh. canty will come to ny but as a giant. I think our biggest need once we sign leonhard is a #1 wr at this point.

so much talent in the draft. especially at the wr position this year. i hope we are not afriad of grooming new talent. rice, lott, tim brown, emitt smith, aikman, sanders--drafted by their respective teams and the rest is history!

The nice thing about the NFL free agency period is that it all comes and goes in about 3 days..at least all of the important signings. There are always a few stragglers and just like in baseball the economy will slow down signings of second tier FAs.

What's so bad about Leonhard being 5'8? Now, not for 1 second am I comparing his skills to Bob Sanders, but he's also 5'8 and doesn't seem to have a problem. Ryan likes the guy, he burst in our eyes in there playoff run, and he lays the wood. Obviously he's not going to be playing Centerfield so relax.
