I think we'll stay at 4, or I think we'll trade up or I think we'll trade down, hell I don't know what to think anymore...I just can't wait for it to be over so half of us can bitch about who we drafted and the other half can be thrilled about who we drafted...whoever we draft will be welcome with cheers and booos, and that's why I love being a Jets fan!!!!
look at the teams that have high grade TEs. Chargers - playoff contenders Falcons - playoff contenders Giants- playoff contenders Dallas- playoff contenders Cheifs - playoff contenders Ravens - not playoff contenders random comparisons anyone?
How many of those teams used the 6th overall pick to get their TE? If my memory serves correctly Shockey was the only 1st rounder, and he was in the teens. The last TE to go #6 was Kellen Winslow Jr. and he's having an excellent NFL career.
Seems like wishful thinking. If they really were interested in trading down to number 4 they most likely would have offered us number 6 plus a their 3rd rounder rather than trading their 3rd and a 2nd for number 22.
I agree, this pick would be questionable. How many teams have picked a TE at the 6th pick? Not many, so nobody values this position that much unless Vernon Davis coach is our college coach....let me see agian, nope. Like you said Winslow at 6th....wooops Dudley was a 9th for Oak and that worked out Brady was a 9th for us in 95 and that was great before that there were some in the top 10 but that was in 1975 the game has changed At #4 Davis would be the 2nd highest TE picked ever, and is he that good? I have seen him play but I have questions for a position that doesnt produce. so yep we shouldnt get a TE in the top 4(and remember what their contract will be, rememeber Robertson? yep barf he better be a sure thing)
I can't see it happening. With 2 first rounders, the 49ers can trade up a lot higher than #4 for who they want (whether it be Davis, Mario Williams, or someone else).
No way Justice falls to 22, so it'd have to be McNeil at 29 or 35 in that scenario unless D'Brick fell to 6.
Gonzalez was 13th or 14th, and Heap was taken at the end of round 1. Dallas and I think Atlanta both spent 2nd rounders, and Gates was obviously not drafted. What does this tell us? Nothing. Why? Because for the most part, the teams that took these TEs were already very solid. A team picking in the teens is just a few plays away from being a playoff contender. A tight end is more of a luxury position, and it's a luxury that good teams can afford to have. Now if Vernon Davis is the next Antonio Gates, then yes, you can take him. But if Davis is the next Gates, and Williams is the next Peppers, and Ferguson is the next Pace, then you have to take the LT or the DE.
With 6 we can take BPA...Ngata, Hawk, Davis, Young, etc. I'd personally root for getting Hawk (but he'll be gone), or Ngata...defense for the first pick  At 22, I think Lawson is a mediocre choice....I'd like to go D.Williams if he's there...Martin's heir..... If we still have 35 then, I'd go O-line.
To me, there are five can't miss players in the draft. Bush, Williams, Ferguson, Davis, Hawk. Get one of those and you did alright.
I really really really hope your joking about that because that would be one of the stupidiest picks i have ever heard
Kellen Winslow Jr.and Vernon Davis are 2 different people, the browns were stupid enough to hve him blocking on a kickoff plus from what ive heard Vernon Davis has a good attitude and isnt cocky like Winslow.
So, you're saying there are 5 can't miss prospects, yet you're against Vernon Davis at 4? If Mario Williams and Matt Leinart are both gone, I think Davis would make the most sense for us. Yes, I understand TE is considered a "luxury" position, but guys like this don't come around too often. He has the potential to make everyone on our offense better. Defenses will have to pay attention to him and his speed alone will create mismatches. What we have here is essentially a WR in a TE's body. Lets not forget the fact that the guy can block pretty well also. I know people will say we need to select D'brick because O-line is more of a need. Yes, the O-line IS a massive need, but because this draft is so deep, we can address it in the later rounds (or at 29). I've said it before, you've got a much better chance of striking gold on the O-line in the later rounds then you do of landing a playmaker of Davis' caliber. Also, I understand we have a bunch of tight ends on our roster, but not one of them will make a defensive coordinator cringe in any way. Davis (IMHO) will. People can question this all they want, but I guarentee on game day, when big Vern is trucking down the field and leaving the trampled remains of DBs in his wake, you'll all be glad he's doing it in green and white.
Yeah i thought that we had a 6th round in my last draft but we dont so I took out Rashad Butler a OT out of Miami. Hopefully Nick mangold is their at 35, cause id rather pick him then Marcedes Lewis but their our doubts he will be their since New Orleans just lost Bentley.
Picks 1-3 gave me chills, but I'd go with the best available RT at 35, and Eslinger at the top of the 3rd, and BPA from there on out.
