Personally I like the moves so far. It sucks to lose Moore, but really our situation is not that bad. We have the money now to sign a top free agent, plus some depth guys . If there is any way we can sign Bart Scott and Leonhard, we would be in the driver's seat come draft time. With those signings we would have great middle linebackers, decent outside linebackers, decent defensive ends, a great nose tackle, one really good safety and one who had a good year last year, and an all pro CB. If we draft a corner in the first two rounds, the rookie and Lowery could battle for the spot opposite Revis, and that would be our biggest question mark on D. Not that bad. On offense, QB is obviously a question mark, but I'm on board with giving the young guys a chance. We'll be running the ball and hopefully playing great D, so let's see if one of the young guys can make enough plays and avoid the bad mistakes well enough to win. I think Coles, Cotch, and Stuckey is not bad at WR, especially when you mix in Keller who demands a defense's attention. If we re-sign Leon, we are pretty good at RB. I also hope Tony R comes back. That leaves one more hole to fill on the offense side; right guard. If we are taking CB with one of the first two picks, we take guard with the other. A guard taken anywhere in the first two rounds should be able to contribute right away. Sign Bart Scott, sign Leonhard, re-sign Leon Draft CB and Guard rounds 1 & 2 Do that and we look alright. Unless of course Clemens and Ratliff both suck, then the season's over before it begins....
I'm not sure why anyone would be upset over this. Moore is a mediocre guard, good run blocker bad pass blocker that's a million guys MO coming out of college. Moores greatest strength was his cost to production. That is now out the window.
Im sure off this list Moore could be replaced alot cheaper also. Offensive Line: Stacy Andrews, UFA, Cincinnati Bengals Matt Birk, UFA, Minnesota Vikings Jordan Black, UFA, Houston Texans Vernon Carey, UFA, Miami Dolphins George Foster, UFA, Detroit Lions Mike Goff, UFA, San Diego Chargers Chris Gray, UFA, Seattle Seahawks Jordan Gross, UFA, Carolina Panthers Pete Kendall, UFA, Washington Redskins Seth McKinney, UFA, Cleveland Browns Jon Runyan, UFA, Philadelphia Eagles Mark Tauscher, UFA, Green Bay Packers Tra Thomas, UFA, Philadelphia Eagles Fred Weary, UFA, Houston Texans John Welbourn, UFA, Kansas City Chiefs Kirk Chambers UFA Buffalo Bills Duke Preston UFA Buffalo Bills
Give whatever Barton and Barrett were making to Bart Scott & Leonhard. That problem is solved. Moore I'd like to keep if he can restructure. He's a solid starter. Not Pro Bowl but a good piece of the OL. And the continuity is important.

Manigini inherited a heal team that had and still has a great amount of talent. There are some vets that make too much money that will either re-work their contracts and stay or resist and leave. Mangini played the evaluation game with his team the first year he coached , but never made the necessary defensive moves on his second.
Very good run blocker, not a bad pass blocker. He gave up just as many sacks (4) as Mangold and D'Brick. When it comes to pass blocking, Faneca and Woody are the weak links in the OLine, not Moore. Additionally, Moore is the best run blocker on the line. So you have at worst 3rd out of 5 on pass blocking, and the best out of the five at run blocking. WHY would you want to get rid of this person? WHY do you think it's okay to just plug anyone in there? The two worst OLinemen we have at pass blocking are Clement and Faneca, and only D'Brick is worse at run blocking on our line than Faneca. It was a veteran presence issue - The Jets needed two players to fill in the gaps and allow the younger players (Mangold, D'Brick, and yes, Moore) to shine, and that's what happened - Lucky for the Jets, Woody was a good run blocker, too. But it's just foolish to think that Moore is as disposable as many people on the board make him out to be. And when you say You are insinuating that just any guy picked up in the draft will be able to replace Moore, our best run blocker and at the very worst the median of our line at pass blocking. Woody and Faneca have nice beefy contracts keeping them around, but make no mistake, they are the ones that will need to be replaced, not Ferguson, Mangold or Moore.
Moore's bonus will be converted into a signing bonus and at that point his cap hit annually is still pretty low for a starting right guard. I see no reason why they should even entertain releasing him. His roster bonus will be converted into a signing bonus and then prorated over the life of the contract. It's a $5 million dollar bonus that can be prorated over 4 seasons. His cap number will be 2.25 million this year even thought he gets his $5 million dollar check.
yeah because I don't go out or do anything... i sit home and wack it to you're avatar.... you have no comeback, you're a sad individual. what are the other 6? answer the question Mr. Cool. when the bar is 3 blocks from the house, and closes at 3 - you can get home, jump into bed and post at 3:25 AM. And when I'm you're age, i won't be hating my life like you, champ... trust me. Everytime you post that embarrassing comeback, this is what I read - "my wife is fat, I drive a minivan, please put a bullet in my head"..... no. I like knowing you suffer. You're midnight is my 3AM... i'm tired. I don't need to be out until 5AM tonight if I had a long day.... blow me.
Do you really think Moore is more valuable to the team and a better player than Faneca? That's kind of what you're saying.
When your RG is giving up as many sacks as your center and LT and the QB is continually pressured off the right side that's not a sign that he is average at pass blocking. Moore has always been a sub standard pass blocker always including this year. Agree Fanecca and Woody will need to be replaced, Woody maybe this year. That's still not a reason to over pay for a very average RG on a highly over paid OL. That doesn't mean I think we should dump him just not over pay for him right now because he thinks he holds the cards.
Resigned, Too old, Resigned. If we want a guard in free agency, Jason Brown is definitely worth a look. He is 25 years old, can play both guard and center, and was part of a good Ravens offensive line. The Dolphins are already showing interest in him.
I wasn't saying we should sign any of those guys, I was referring to the list in the post above mine and wondering why he had a list of tackles to replace Moore. Looking back, I think he was being sarcastic.
If Moore is gone then Woody should be moved to right guard and they should sign/draft a right tackle.
I can't believe that's the first time I've read this. That's a great idea. Woody got molested in pass blocking last year.
