It's nothing special either. Keller started 6 games in his rookie year and put up about the same, but slightly better numbers. Baker started 15 games in '07.

The point is that he's nothing special and easily replaceable. There is no need to pay this guy what his contract demands.

Ask any non Jets fan who Crhis Baker is. Most probably haven't a clue. Why? Cause he isn't good. This jerkoff was way overpaid for his level of production. You're paying almost 1st round money for 2 TE's and don't run a 2 te set. Rex will find a blocking TE for a fraction of the cost.

Oh and maybe he won't be the egotistical prick like Baker.

I think he'd be an excellent compliment to Keller. Too bad his contract with the Rams doesn't expire until '10.

Before Gonzales and the like, the prototype was the Giants' Mark Bavarro.

The guy was a blocking, pass-catching horse. Baker is no Mark Bavarro.

    Now Keller... we'll see....

I was actually being serious about the Becht thing- if he could be had on the cheap and assuming that his run-blocking hasn't dropped off from when he was here. Probably one of the best blocking TE's in the league...

Just don't throw him the ball and you'll be fine.

See ya Chris. Cant say I'll miss him. This dude was demanding money like he was top notch, hot shit TE. Granted...he is a hell of a run blocker but Rex and Shotty will figure it out.

I also didnt care for him cause he ran his mouth too much. Now we gotta get rid of the other big mouth who thinks he's hot shit...

I dont even need to put his name down...we all know who.

So far Rex is re-signing the right guys and dropping the rights ones. The guy knows his shit.

how many here have asked for a raise? how many here have been annoyed because they had a boss who told them one thing then did something else? now how many here are in the public eye like chris baker.

basically stfu because most of you have done exactly what chris baker did in your very own life. only nobody gives half a shit about you and your pitiful existence :)

and i agree namath, i think this will at this point end up being a smart move. but ONLY if we get a guy who can catch and block very well for a lesser price, because i have seen nothing out of keller that shows me he can do both.

True...I'm sure many of us here have publically called out our bosses and demanded multi-million dollar raises.

And why shouldn't Baker ask for executive pay when he produces like a guy who works in the mail room??

You must have just bought an 86 jersey thats the only reason why I can see you being this fired up.

Look at all of the other players who didn't act like a baby like Baker did. The reason Baker was complaining about money was because Keller was making more than him even though Baker was starting. I didn't hear any of the linebackers complaining about Gholston's insane salary and they actually had a legitimate case.

Believe it or not that was probably his agent's call.

I admit I lost a lot of respect for Baker when he pulled his clever little parking lot stunt, but that changes nothing. He just showed he was kind of an idiot.
