It adds up with all the releases http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...009-02-19_jets_create_room_for_ray_lewis.html
Something is definately up, that's for sure. I'm not sold on the fact that it is Ray Lewis, but the Jets are definately aligning themselves to have another killer offseason freeing up all this cash.
Makes sense to me if we make a big splash with all of the releases. How much cap room do we have right now?
Having Lewis here would be cool, as far as bringing in aging vets who are already in the Hall with another team goes. In other words, Id like this much more than I liked bringing in Brett. But if you have to choose between giving up big, big dollars for Ray Lewis age 34 or Bart Scott age 28, I think you have to go with Scott.
honestly i really think ray lewis would be a much better fit for the jets right NOW. scott is obviously younger and is a very tough and proven linebacker but you dont just get great on the field production by ray lewis, you get a great locker room guy who is a vet, and as everyone watches on tv, time and time again he shows those leadership and vocal skills every time he talkes. Everyone has to admit when you watch ray lewis yell and scream with the ravens it just gets you amped the f*ck up. Come on the jets very young defense needs a guy who has won the super bowl to guide them and show them how to be as dominating as the ravens were (especially with rex now). Even at the pro bowl if you watched it, you can see his intensity spread to the entire team, so he proves that wherever he is he can assume the leadership skills. He is a must for the jets to be that much better and be ranked among the elite defenses in the nfl. Bring in a young proven corner and i think the jets d will be that good. :jets:
i hope they find a way with baker too... but on the other hand if getting rid of baker means getting scott then i'm all for it. Also i'm a little sad to see bowens go, he was a solid player and good depth
Ray Lewis would be a better signing than everyone we signed last year aside from Jenkins he is that good and his leadership will make EVERYONE play there ass of (that means you VG)
ray lewis or bart scott are an upgrade so who cares which one it is we need good players, they are both proven players, im fine with everything thats been going on so far (aside from moore)
Why? Signing him would almost guarantee the best out of every single player on our defense - including Vernon Gholston. Lewis will rip VG's face off and wear it as a mask if he doesn't start tapping into all of that potential.
He's almost 34 years old. All of the Patriots' starting linebackers, minus Mayo, are older than him. This team needs a face, a motivator. He's the best in fire-starter in the NFL. Sign him to a two or three-year deal and I'm happy.
Don't want Ray Lewis. 1. Age 2. Pled guilty to obstruction of justice when he helped his two friends get away with murder. (Literally) He'd get all of the attention here, and I sure as hell don't want that. As stated before, we have the Flight Crew now so we don't need another dancer. Let's spend the money in a better place.
