Why did we give Baker that contract? I think we should trade it to Atlanta for like a 4th round pick.. it's the max we can get probably...

Great to hear we're getting something for Vilma.

Also glad to hear that the Jets priority is Leon Washington. I hope they're able to work out a deal with Moore, losing him would be a significant hit, especially since we have absolutely no depth on the o-line.

damnit i knew this would happen

we need to renegotiate and keep Moore, definitely.

and Leon needs to retire in green and white.

aside from that accurate article seems about on the money.

are we really 18M under? weve cut alot of bloated caps. then again those numbers could be wrong.

I'm going to guess that Rex watched Bowens on tape and realized he wouldn't fit in his system for whatever reason. Bowens is a solid player but nothing special. Kassell was expected. I'm curious if Rex can develop Trusnik.

All they have to do with Moore is restructure his roster bonus into a signing bonus and then the $7 million or so can be amortized over the life of his contract keeping in line with the 30% rule. I can't imagine why the Jets would even consider cutting him.

Once Rhodes and Pace have their roster bonuses converted the Jets should have plenty of money to make some free agent signings. They will targer defense players that fit Rex's scheme but don't expect superstars. Rex's system has a way of getting the most out of his defense player so his players tend to be a bit overrated with the exception of Ray Lewis and Ed Reed.

Moore is not only a good run blocker , but very durable too.

They can't let Moore go. It would be a mistake.

They better keep Moore. A) He's underrated, and B) O line continuity is huge.

Looks like Baker is gone. That's been a long time coming.
Picking up an extra third is huge.
I think Bart Scott is our guy. You can't ignore the 6 year age diff + a cheaper price tag.

We better not let Moore go. And if we do, I don't understand why we would cut him instead of trying to trade him.

I would keep Baker around as he's a very solid all around veteran TE. And cutting Brandon Moore would be a huge mistake. Can't they just focus on a restructure for him? He's been a very good player for us for a while now.

And I would rather have Bart Scott over Ray Lewis. Scott is younger and wouldn't cost nearly as much... I don't think...

I agree. Besides Dearth and Keller, Baker is all we've got and he's a solid player. Why create another hole on the roster when we don't have to? I agree we should keep Moore too.

    Moore has money issues.

Too bad Kassell did not work out better. He came here with some promise.

Sad to see Bowens go. Hope he gets picked up somewhere. He has heart. Moore has to stay. I wound up liking him more last year than Faneca, and I did not see that happening. I'm ok with shedding Baker as long as we get something for him. The more reps Keller gets, the better he'll get all around, not just in the passing game, but also in blocking.

good to see the Moore love when before last season people wanted him cut because he was the "forgotten linemen." How quick the perception changes.

He's the only one I want back, everyone else can be cut - they are backups and replaceable.

Dustin Keller needs to be the full-time starter. Supposedly, the Jets are interested in former Lions' tight end Dan Campbell - if he stays healthy, he's a hell of a run blocker.

Fresno State's tight end Bear Pascoe is another guy I wouldn't rule out late in the draft - he's arguably the best blocking tight end in this draft. If he falls past the 5th round, he'll be a steal.

I'm not sold on Moore. Even though the running game was far better going to the right side, I think Woody was the factor. Moore is a converted DT, undersized, and has no Pro Bowls so I'm not overpaying him.

I'm getting excited to think about Ryan being able to bring guys he wants here and build a huge D. I hope he can do it, you win with defense.
