i'm doing the math right now, but it looks promising if we cut some dead wood (mangold, harris, rhodes, leon and others) we might have enough cap space to FINALLY sign a quality punter. we would be $947M under the cap.

    thougths?

And Haynesworth, and thirteen free agent QBs. Let them battle it out in camp.

Someone is trying to make a strong push for an early nomination to the "The Brett Favre "Attention Whore" Award".

I wasn't aware this Award was so coveted.

Are you saying that Shane Lechler, who just signed a 4 year deal with Oakland 2 days ago is not staying with Oakland no matter what?

I guess that would be an Al Davis way of doing things.

Either that or you are sadly inept on reading into sarcasm in the first part of his post and equally uniformed on Lechler.

    Did the Jets release Bowens?

That could be a sign they will go after a Raven LB......

You must be out of your mind. U think Punters cost a fortune?

No they don't. You can find a quality punter off the streets for around $400k a punt, why sign Lechler for $2 million a punt? Its not like they punt 30+ times a game.

    well, now you know.

i am the original poster of this thread and, yes, IF we can free up $1B in cap by cutting dead wood (jenkins, harris, rhodes, leon, et all) i would sign a quality PUNTER tonight. accept for an occasional 10 yd sac, no other player on the team improves field possition more than a quality punter.

thank you for taking this post 100000% serious. i knew i could count on you to be more smart than the average NE fan.

are there any quality punters available in the draft? free agents perhaps?

edit: i read in SI tha brett bavre would walk onto the 'special teams' practice field and boot 60-70 yd bombs 'routinely' with absolutely NO warm up. he would joke and laugh with the boys then walk back to his offensive group.

question: if brett faver really can smash the hell out of the ball 60-70 yds every time, should we consider bringing him back as a punter? would he come back in this capacity for 40-50 $M/yr? i think he would.

    comments? thoughts?

    who is his agent?

brett can pull a bow string back with his pinkey toe and launch an arrow over 450 yds, dead nuts bulls eye. just think about how good he could be punting the ball.
