The closer we get to the draft, the more it looks like this will be the top 3..

    Houston- Bush
    NO- Mario
    Tenn- Leinart

Assuming that this is the top 3(at this point I would be really surprised if this is not the top 3) I would imagine our decision comes down to DBrick, Hawk, Cutler, Young, Davis and N'Gata..If thats the case then rank the order of your preference between these guys.. Here is mine...

    1. Cutler- Preferably in a slight trade down, but I can't imagine anyone is gonna be knocking down our door trying to get to 4. If they feel he could be the franchise QB then just grab him here..

    2. Young- His downside scares me but passing on him scares me more.. I highly doubt he is the pick but I do think it makes complete sense to draft him. If anyone can have the patience for him to develop, it is a young HC in his first year with a team rebuilding..

    3. Davis- All along I've been against the idea of a TE in the first and more or less I still am, but there is no denying this teams crying need for a playmaker and Davis certainly fits the bill. I'd go Qb but if its between Davis and DBrick, give me the playmaker..

    4. Hawk- He is gonna be a stud, no question about it. For the Jets though, I'd rather get a true OLB with the 29th pick.. I'd take him over DBrick though..

    5. DBrick- I just cant justify taking an OT this high that is not a complete player. Especially with the depth at OL in this draft and the fact that we have a young LT with upside already on the team. He is a great pass blocker no doubt but only average run blocker, IMO not worth the 4th pick in the draft..

    6. N'Gata- Nothing scares me off more than a lazy 340 pound beast with an inconsistent motor..

im hoping NO takes d-brick or TEN takes vince young but if that doesnt happen then we should trade down and take vernon davis/cutler and with the latter pick take deangelo williams/OL...

Good post. I don't think I have ever seen you start a thread. I agree with everything you said.

At this stage of the game, if we could trade down just a few picks to maybe 8 or 9, I would do it so I could grab Cutler.

D'Brick at 4 works for me as well.

I have said before I don't want a TE at 4, but I am starting to warm up to Vernon and the freakish athlete he is.

Hawk is going to be a good player. He is probably the most assured IMO.

Young as turned me off with some of his off the field decisions and just his translation to the NFL. I don't think either will go well in th NFL, so I would pass.

If Davis is on the board at 4 we will take him, but that is not to say he is neccessarily our target. We will go BPA, regardless of position. Our draft board at 4, as I see it...

    1-Bush
    2-Leinart
    3-Mario
    4-Davis

Thats our draft board, in other words, our targets (in order) at the 4th pick

    ...Not a 4 player mock

    Man oh Man
It's hard for me to pick a linemen or TE that high
but for me there are only two players I am taking at that No.4 pick.
    That's
    D'Brickashaw and Vernon Davis
I don't think anyone else is worthy of the No. 4 pick, and the only reason I would pick Davis at 4 is because I don't believe he is going to last to the 7 pick. There are some players you just have to bite the bullet for, because if you don't then another team will...

Would love Hawk, but wouldn't mind D'Brick.

To tell you the truth with so many linemen, is the gap btwn D'Brick and the other first rounders that much of a difference?

I think that is the true Million Dollar(s) question.

Not only isn't the gap wide enough - D'Brick is a horrible fit for us and we would be much better off with a Run Blocking RT to go with Jones further down the draft.

    - Mario or TRADE DOWN

For everyone saying just to trade down, it is just not that easy. There is a reason we would want to trade down, who are we gonna trade down with and who are they gonna trade up for???

Exactly. At this point I only see Detroit or Minn as an option, but it is likely that whoever Det is targetting will be there @ 9 (unless its Huff). Minn might be a more realistic option, tradin the 17 and their 2 2nd rounders for a shot at one of the QBs, but would it be enough compensation is the question...

To me Minnesota wouldn't be an option, it is just to far down and that package isn't enough to get in the top 5 of this draft. If I'm running the draft I would call teams in the 5-9 range and only the 5-9 range.. If you can't pull that off than take your guy at 4..Out of those teams in the 5-9, I could only see Det wanting to move up but IMO they would only move up for Mario, problem is if Mario is availble I don't think we will be trading down..

I don't think Mario will go #2 to the Saints. I think Ferguson, Leinert, Hawk, and trading down are all more likely options for NO.

Personally, I think our draft board should look like this:

    Bush
    Leinert
    Mario
    Young
    Ferguson

It's not "retarded" it's been asked on here quite a few times. Maybe we should sticky a thread explaining what IMO means (and as said before, In My Opinion).

I really would be a fan of trading down if Bush, Mario, and Leinart are gone... but if we fail to I would be a fan of taking Hawk because he's just a natural football player and nobody is getting past him or Vilma. I know it fills a need but with JV and Hawk inside our 3-4 defense would be godly if we found a NT. D'Brick's lack of run blocking ability scares me and he will never be an elite LT in the league. A QB isn't out of the question... my list goes like this:

    1) Hawk
    2) Young
    3) Cutler
    4) D'Brick
    5) Davis
