Wait hold up a sec... To jjcand all the others who think he is just a scrambler please re-read the following part of my original post. And drafting a guy in the 1st round of the draft is a sure thing? How much is Gholston costing us these days? And what did I say to make you assume I play Madden, which I have never owned or played? Your argument that we shouldn't go after a QB on another team doesn't work when in the very next sentence you say "Get Leftwich". Smith was going to be the starter going into this season but Smith got the Flu and that's why Flacco started. And once Flacco got off to a great start there was no reason to switch QB's back to Smith. Even though he is a pass first QB despite all misconceptions, I think his legs could make him an all weather QB. I agree, throw him in with Clemens and Ratliff. I'm not suggesting he just comes in as the starter.
I like Smith. He played well when they gave him playing time as a rookie. He probably would have been a first day pick had his offensive line not played so terribly against Florida in the BCS Championship Game. With that said, I'm not sure I'd give up anything, even a late round pick, to get him since he's no more of a sure thing than Ratliff, Clemens, or Ainge.
