Woody Johnson, becoming a high-profile owner these last few weeks, appeared this morning with Boomer and The Other Guy on WFAN. Johnson had a few interesting things to say on the current QB situation, Brett Favre, Thomas Jones, Rex Ryan and, indirectly, Eric Mangini.

? Johnson, more than Ryan or GM Mike Tannenbaum, made it sound like the team is committed to choosing the starting QB from the current cast, led by Kellen Clemens and Brett Ratliff.

? Johnson reiterated that he wanted Favre to return for a second season, but he wasn't as convincing as he had been in previous interviews. I'm telling you, there's a sense of relief at One Jets Drive in Florham Park, N.J. My peeps tell me there were a lot of smiling coaches in the building yesterday. (I don't know, maybe it's because Mangini is gone.)

? Johnson fired a salvo at Jones, who created a headline after the season by ripping Favre's three-interception performance in the final game. Said Johnson: "(Jones) went off the reservation a little bit. He knew it and he apologized."

? Johnson said Ryan conducted an organizational breakfast yesterday at the facility, where his assistant coaches introduced themselves to staff members in other departments. Each coach was required to stand up and tell a little about his coaching background.

"That," Johnson said, "never happened before."

You got the impression that Mangini preferred breakfast in the bunker, self-imposed solitary confinement with a staff member sliding a plate through an opening at the bottom of his door.

^ Ryan is bringing a sense of real football and family to this organization... something it never really had before...

we might see some real football from this team yet folks... stay tuned.

Maybe the Jets stick with whats on the roster, maybe not. I'm not giving anything away if I'm Woody... he said the right thing.

The man is trying, so I give him points. Its a business first, and he knows that, but he really does want a ring, and I applaud him for doing all he can for this team... but only recently has he become this way. Good for him. And for us.

Perfectly put NDmick. I totally agree about Woody as long he does not have final decisons on the football. I always felt that money was not an issue and its all about winning the Super Bowl . Sounds line the place is loosening up and that can only help. Mangini sounded like a real fun guy huh? . Good luck Browns

This article sounds great, I like the fact that Ryan is making this sort of a family thing. In my football playing experience, making the team about family is a good way to put it. I feel like Rex will conduct himself in the right balance of being a nice guy and a hardass on the team. Although Rex hasn't proven anything on the field, all signs point to him being the right hire.

Slowly but surely I think Woody is getting things figured out. Hes a smart man, but this is nothing like J&J and I kinda figured it would take a while to get a grip on things. One of my hopes was that he would have gotten us our own stadium somewhere in NYC, but thats water under the bridge. But the No. 1 priority is getting back to the SB. With the money he spent last year and bringing in Rex (his guy)this year, I think hes going in the right direction. I myself think its more than just selling PSL's, they will get sold, and hes making money whether the team is bad or good. There were too many reports out there Woody was visibly frustrated with the the way the team finished and the fact that the decision to toss Eric came in the middle of the night after our last game confirms that. I thinks hes finally getting a passion for the product on the field. Better late than never.

I think hes the right fit at the right time. We have a good solid team here. Our former HC - not aggressive enough, strange play calls, NO emotion, no game time adjustments, our former DC - I wont repeat myself - are both gone and their replacements are polar opposites. The rest of our team is intact so I cant see any reason he would not succeed here. Some family feeling during the week and fire on the sidelines on Sunday should really light this team up. I havent been this happy about a coach hire since BP was hired.

Our former DC is actually not gone. Just demoted. Now just our linebackers will be slow, out of position and lack emotion. The rest of our D should be good.
