Let them have their day. This is the only time the Raiders win loss record is any good, the off season
I watch the lowly Raiders all the time. Don't kid yourself, JaMarcus has 1 more year before I stamp the bust label on him. When you try to throw the ball, its supposed to go forward, not backward. How many times did he fumble without being touched? Hes got some talent, but he shits the bed way too much. Mark my words, he will be a bust come January 2010.
he gives off this personality of ho-hum, no edge to him. Not my kind of QB... Brady Quinn has an edge to him, and his ego is bigger than my house. Now combine that edge and Russell physical ability and that's one hell of a QB... unfortunately they aren't combined, so Russell is fucked. And Quinn has mangini.
So do you have DirecTV or do you go to a bar to watch the Raiders every week even thought you're a Jet fan? Cause they're sure not on national TV much these days. Eli's first year getting significant time he had a 55 rating. His first year with 16 starts he had a 75 rating. So I guess you were calling him a bust too. A lot of people were. But that's my point. Some QBs take time to develop. Russell came out as a junior. Everyone knew he wasn't a finished product. This was Russell's first significant time as a starter (15 starts) and he put up a 77 rating. Of greater significance, he got better as the year went on. Check out these individual game performances from the 2nd half of the year: Miami- 88.4 rating Denver- 149.1 rating New England- 85.7 Houston- 128.1 Tampa Bay- 98.9 JaMarcus has a way to go but is a long way from being declared a "bust" by anyone who is actually willing to look at what he did on the field this year.
It takes all kinds. His teammates like his cool unflappable style. Not everyone is a Phil Simms, Rich Gannon, "red in the face yell at my teammate who dropped a ball" type of guy. Plenty of great QBs, like Namath, Stabler, and Montana, have had on field demeanors that could not be called "edgy"... And you're kidding about Quinn having Mangini, right? Like he's developed all kinds of young QBs?
I'm not going to say Russell is a bust, but QB rating is a ridiculous stat. Chad Pennington has some of the highest QB ratings in league history and everyone knows he's never winning a superbowl. QB rating reflects on efficiency. Not efficiency of winning games or scoring TDs, but it very generous to QBs that have a high percentage of completions. Chad always hovers in the high 60s which gives him the 8th all time qb rating in nfl history.
I wouldn't even waste my time trying to explain to Jet fans what a franchise QB is.(there is a reason they haven't won a superbowl in forty one years) Heck they tried a Ronnie Lott move this year getting a once upon a time franchise Qb(brett favre) and are now stuck with bandaids at QB. Rex Ryan better have a dominated defense next year because its going to be a long year for Jet fans otherwise. SO Brother, Let Jet fans think their Qb situation is better than the Raiders. This way when i produce this thread again next year. They can lock it. The truth hurts sometimes.
QB rating isn't everything, but it's something. Just ironic that it awards efficiency, which is what people who don't actually watch Russell like to say he lacks. A lot of people stuck him in the Daunte Culpepper category for reasons that have nothing to do with style of play. I agree winning games comes first. Everyone who thought Russell should have won a lot of games this year with his surrounding cast, raise your hand...
LOL face it Jeaux JaBarcus BUSTell is a bust, quit advertising him. He sucks! Jets have Clemens, Ratliff, Ainge. Each with more potential than the #1 pick in 07. But hey Russell could become your franchise LT if he spends more time in the buffet line haha
