This is an interesting subject that is rarely discussed here. Feely or Nugent? Will we finally sign or draft a good punter?

I didn't think Hodges was that bad. Some competition wouldn't hurt though. And Feeley kicked really well, so I want him back.

Feely should come back, he wasn't as bad as I thought he was going to be.

Hodges did rather well, I say we keep him as well.

Kicker will be either Nuge or Feely and Punter i have no clue. Possibility we bring back Hodges but i wouldn't be suprised if we get a new guy via free agency or the draft.

We should keep Nugent and draft a punter.

    Hodges was not anything special.

I think we need to spend a late round pick on a punter. This revolving door punting situation is not working.

As far as kicker, Nugent has been solid before the injury and Feely was good last year. I say use some cap space to re-sign them both, and let them compete for the job.

Feely and Nuge will battle for the kicking job. As for punter idk. Maybe they will draft a punter in the later rounds.

I'm happy with either Nugent or Feeley.

Punter wise, a late draft pick is a good idea, i wouldn't mind spending a pick on T.J Conley out of Idaho, he averaged 47.9 yards a punt last season, which would of been good for 7th in the NFL. His longest punt last season was 74 yards, first team all american. He had 5 games where his AVG punt was more than 50 yards, playing for the dire Vandals team he had to punt a lot. His is gifted on and off the field, got honors for his academic work, good head on his shoulders. Should be there in the 6th round for taking, i would seriously consider it.

If he had a 74 yard punt and a bunch of games with his average over 50 yards, he must have shanked a few during the season

Or he was in situations that didn't require long punts. Find me a Punter that has a perfect season without shanking a punt though.

I didn't see all his games, but when i did see him, he was impressive. He is the best punter in college football IMO, and well worth a late round pick, has developed and improved each season.

I am thinking of applying for punter. I got soft hands, a solid boot, and a great smile.

I think we'll keep Nuge and Hodges, but I wouldn't be surprised if we let another punter compete.

Either Feely or Nugent for kicker. If I had to choose one, Feely.

As for punter, punters are so interchangable. Just about anyone could be available.

I think the issue is pretty straight forward, where as most of Nugents kicks seem to go wide. At least at crunch time. Actually I am not opposed to seeing him return. The main thing is to make a decision on 1 or the other. Having 2 kickers can only make them continously look over their shoulder. Some may think that will make them focus more on getting the job done right, but it can also cause them to feel less confident in their abilities. The punter is solid for us right now. I still think both of these positions can usually take care of themselves if we have issues. We can always get 1 of the Zendejas Brother st o come out of retirement. Afterall kickers can usually play until they are in their 50's.
