No he wasnt. It was dead heat between the 2. If anything VD had the edge because VD had a mythos about him. Scouts heard all these crazy stories about him bench pressing X amount of weight, him being the fastest guy on the team, and him holding tons of team records(40 time, deadlift, bench press, etc). Even on nfldraftcountdown, Scott Wright had VD going ahead of all the other TEs(i think he had VD going to the Cardinals/Rams[it fluctuated] and Lewis going to the Bengals) sicne day 1. Another thing is that Marcedes dropped himself out the first rd, its not like anyone snuck up on him and stole his spot.
WOW. needless to say, this is VERY IMPRESSIVE. if i was the FO, i'd be taking a long, hard look at this phenom
Did u get the message I left you about the quicktime videos on your site being blurry alot of the time?
That's being rather generous. I wouldn't hate picking this guy up, though I'd rather do it at 6 or 7 and not 4. Haven't we drafted like 8 TE's in the past 20 years in the first round? We have 4 already on our roster; we'd have to pull a trade or something.
I wouldn't be crying if we drafted him at 4 (a little bit of a reach, but only 2 or so spots). If we trade down to 6, I'm all for picking him up. I've posted this video a few times in different Vernon Davlis threads and it never ceases to impress me. The man is huge, fast, and has great hands. He probably has the highest ceiling of any TE coming out of the draft for a LONG TIME. And, as stated above, he has more upside than recievers picked in the first round of previous drafts. The man would create coverage problems for the other team and would open up our recievers. If Mario is off the board at 4, a trade down + Davis might be in order. Someone already stated that SF already has a good TE, so they would probably be willing, especially to grab Hawk over GB.
hes not a workout warrior... this guy is a beast... i had the pleasure of watchin him here at umd for 2 yrs... the jets should grab him...
Vernon Davis at #4 would be good. I am coming around, even though a TE that high is kinda ridiculous. But our offense was the biggest joke in the NFL last year. We don't need to go defense in round 1, unless Mario Williams is there. Our #1 need is playmakers on offense, especially since Justin McCareins is such a piece of sh-t...
