There has been NO TEAM that has won going out to buy players.
Your Core Players have to be from the draft.
The FAs you sign help solidify the structure that is already in place. There was no way the Jets were going to a SuperBowl. Too many new pieces trying to gel.
The Jets were put together like the Redskins and here we are one year later worried about our cap situation.

The Falcons and the Ravens had Ryan and Flacco. There is nobody on the team or in the draft as good as either of them.

Your probably right,Don. I do think we've got something in Ratliff, though. Just like the Falcons, and Ravens were not expecting big things from thier rookies, maybe we get lucky with a different Brett.

Brad Smith is not an "investment"...he's practically playing for minimum wage by NFL standards. Coleman is a chump though.

true enough, but the jets lost talent during the middle of this decade and could not bid of free agent top talent because chad's contract was strangling the cap.

Hayden is a Cover 2 corner; we need man-cover corners. We will not pursue him.

You're probably right re Smith's salary, but I really hope Stuckey and a high draft pick supplant Smith's PT at WR next year--Smith has shown squat for 3 years at WR.

Stuckey should get the 3rd spot... Mangini's love affair is now over... if Smith does become a free agent, he has someone to pick him up.

Chris Canty would be a great pickup. I would love for the Jets to draft a speedy WR in the draft.

I reckon Shane Lechler would be a good addition at a problem position.

The team needs to sign them all. Give up future firsts. Anything! Get it done Tanny!

That all maybe true BUT the Jets are looking to win NOW and by signing last season proved it.

Bryant McFadden would be a better option than Hayden, probably in the same price range.

We're better off picking up a CB in the draft. CB is a position where a rookie can instantly contribute and this draft is very deep in them. Save the cap money to upgrade the defensive front 7 (a la Bart Scott & Julius Peppers).

I dont understand the need for Asomghau. I mean do you really need two top level CB's? We have Revis. Why poor even more and more money into one posistion. I'm not saying that we dont need to upgrade at the CB posistion but we dont need to go after the best and handicap ourselves in other areas when we clearly have one of the best CB's on our team to begin with.

There are other guys out there that we could add to this team that wouldnt cost as much as he would that would still do a good job for us whether it come through the draft or Free Agency.

Bottom line is if the Jets can get pressure on the CB they wont have to go invest a ton of money into the secondary. They need another starting corner and a safety to play along Rhodes. But they dont have to go out and get the best ones. Go out and get the best DE's and LB's. It starts up front. Rhodes and Revis is more then enough to be very good back there as long as the guys playing next to them are capable of doing there job and the front seven can get pressure on the QB.

1st Favre is 39 not 41 Warner is 37 coming into this year everyone would have said Favre was better. 2nd when Chad played 1 full season in 8 years for us cause he was always hurt no one said anything but he made $11 mil per year. 3rd You guys keep bringing up Flacco, Ryan & Big Ben but the Steelers & the Ravens have the number 1 & 2 D's in the game our D SUCKS! & the Ravens, Steelers & Falcons all have great running games. Flacco, Ryan & Big Ben dont fall out of tree's if you think we are going to just start Kellen or Ratliff & win with our D you know nothing about football.
