The 49er's traded up to get the #22 pick in round one from Denver. San Francisco already has the #6 overall pick.

    According to CNN.SI -

The move also might be a prelude to a gambit to move up again in the draft. Two players coveted by the 49ers -- Ohio State linebacker A.J. Hawk and North Carolina State defensive end Mario Williams -- are likely to be gone before San Francisco's first-round picks.

Where can the 49ers go to get Williams or Hawk?

-New Orleans might be willing to move down to #6 and get the #22 for the #2...or maybe they stay and choose Williams or Ferguson.

-the New York Jets will probably be willing to swap the #4 overall for the #6 and #22...so they can nab QB Jay Cutler with the #6 and then still have the #22 and #29 in the first round to fill out their Oline?

This is a reasonable scenario. I would be comfortable with us making this deal and staying in the top 10 picks as well.

There will be so many rumors it's hard to get excited about any of them right now but the 49ers move does create some interesting new scenarios.

That is a very smart idea. But Cutler at 6 you must be crazy. We should take either v. davis, Ngata, or etc. My prefrence would be V. Davis. Now we can do alot with the 22nd and 29th. I don't know who we will want but I say with the 29th we take gabe watson and the 22nd manny lawson and the 35th lendall white.

    6th v. davis
    22nd lawson
    29th gabe watson
    35th lendall white

That would be even better than if we traded down with Denver, which was sort of what I was hoping the Jets would do since I really doubt they draft Vince Young. I would bet the Jets would have to give up another pick too though to make that trade...

I wouldn't think twice about doing that. Would love to grab Vernon Davis at 6.

I looked at the draft value chart and for this trade to happen, the Jets would have to throw in their second round pick too at the very least... still, it might be a pretty good trade anyway. We'd be moving down two spots, where ultimately we probably wouldn't lose anyone, unless the Jets had Mario targeted... but then we would move up 15 spots from #3 in the 2nd round to #22 in the 1st. You could make a splash with that pick.

I definitely think the reason they got that other pick was so they could sell it off in a trade up, but if thats a trade with us, well be ripping them off so big time, I might even feel bad about it. A trade with NO is more likely...either that or we would have to trade away the 29th or 35th away as well

    At 6, whos my target?

    VERNON DAVIS

    #6 (1600) + #22 (780) = 2380
    #4 (1800) = 1800

No way this deal is done. To even it up, the Jets would need to include #35 (hence we wouldn't have it) and a 6th rounder. We do not have one of those. We could give our 5th, and get a 7th in return as well.

It seemed a bit skewed in our favor but I was too lazy to go look up the numbers for this trade. But remember if they truly covet williams or hawk, we're the guys they should deal with. Still I'm sure the compensation to move up won't include this years 22.....

    A. Link?

    B. It's all speculation

    C. I would love to just swap both first rounders...get 6 and 22 and a mid rounder from them...they can have 4 and 29...

    D. I think Jay Cutler would be the obvious choice if we do in fact trade down.

Getting #6 + #22 for only #4 is too good to be true, and as jetsin2004 said, will never happen. I don't know if it would be worth it to trade #4 + #35 for #6 and #22.

I would trade #4 overall, our 3rd rounder #71 overall, and our 4th rounder #103 overall for #6 and #22. I know that is still skewed in our favor a great deal, but SF gets some depth picks back. I wouldn't move down unless we're getting a great deal.

Our (probably never gonna happen so I'm wasting my time but it's fun anyway) first day:

    6- TE Vernon Davis, Maryland
    22- OT Eric Winston, Miami
    29- OC Nick Mangold, OSU
    35- NT Gabe Watson, Michigan
97- OLB Chris Gocong, Cal Poly-Tech

What about DeAngelo Williams at 22? That would be a great value pick and possibly the BPA. That is if he is still around.... You are all talking about using later picks on drafting a rb anyway, get a top guy early, and use later picks on o-line, where there is plenty of depth in this draft. We can def get an o line starter in the 3rd round!

why would the 49ers who really have no impact players trade away multiple picks to move up a couple of spots? i don't even understand why they gave up and 2nd and 3rd.

Here's to Vernon Davis in Green!

I also think a trade with N.O. is much more likely. Especially if the Saints are targeting D'brick. But it could work out well for the Jets either way.

For arguments sake lets say a trade with the 9ers and NO goes through. Super Mario, and Leinart are most likely gone at 2 and 3. Teams like Oakland, Arizona, Detroit, and Baltimore are more than likely going to look to jump ahead of one another and grab Vince Young or Jay Cutler. (AJ Hawk then goes to GB no doubt, and the Saints can still grab D'brick at 6.)

If that's the case, we'll probably recieve a very nice compensation package that very well may include a 1st rounder in 2007 (and have a very good shot at grabbing Vernon Davis this year).

    They aren't dealing #6 and #22 for #4 I don'tcare WHO they covet.

The 49ers do things by the book. The evidence is in their trade with Denver. Those picks matched on the value chart PERFECTLY.

Not to pick on you, but you didn't seem too lazy to make a projection of picks. My opinion, and only my opinion, but if you can do that, you should at least check the reality of the trade.
