Jets Dissed on National TV Show! The Horror

the scriptwriter behind that line is probably a Jets fan

 

Looks like a couple of the writers have seen a lot of Jets games the past couple years.

 

I remember that episode. That was a great line.

 

I love House but I missed that one. I would have loved to here that come out the mouth of one of his patients.

 

That's great! Good that we still have Shotty calling the plays, huh?

 

Ditto. And agree, the writer has to be a Jets fan.

That is poor writing, if it was said 3rd and 10 during the Hackett years it would be a lot more accurate. As said though it just sounds like the writer has no clue about football, especially the Jets.

 

Hackett or Schotty?

i saw that episode once the line caught me by surprise but it was hilarious. i dont know if house was around when we still had hackett, but i feel like it would have been more appropriate if he was still the oc when the episode aired.

 

Here's the context:

Dr. Cameron: [giving differential diagnosis] Idiopathic T-cell deficiency?
Dr. House: Idiopathic, from the Latin meaning we're idiots 'cause we can't figure out what's causing it. Give him a whole body scan.
Dr. Cameron: You hate whole body scans.
Dr. House: 'Cause they're useless. Could probably scan every one of us and find five different doodads that look like cancer. But, when you're 4th-down, 100 to go, in the snow, you don't call a running play up the middle. Unless you're the Jets.
[House leaves]
Dr. Cameron: I hate sports metaphors.

The episode aired April 12, 2005, right after Hackett's last season with us.

 

I knew it!!!

 

I think every time I watch an episode of King of Queens the Jets are being dissed on national TV. That being said I love House too and I remember that line and turning to my wife and saying no wonder we can't beat the Patriots.... House is giving away our playbook on national tv.

It's amazing though... Hugh Laurie is awesome although I'd still take the bumbling idiot he played in Blackadder over the sarcastic asshole dr but it's close.

 

Instead of the Jets taking it to the House, the House took it to the Jets.

 

Is House big in the UK?

 

As you say, as written the line is funny unless you think about it, in which case it becomes stupid. If it had just been 3rd down instead of 4th down, and given the time frame, it would have been funny, and even funnier if you thought about it.
