I expect you are right. I didn't mean to say in my previous post that I was really concerned about him staying and doing damage. It was more I don't see the benefit of keeping him.

As an organization the Jets don't understand the value of renewal very well. They keep maintaining people in the organization who really should be cut loose and as a result they get a muddled mixture of the past and the present which cuts them off from any real chance of having a different future.

It's a very conservative thing that they do with talent and it costs them a lot.

I am never going to have a great deal of confidence in the Jets ownership as long as it is Woody. Instead it's going to be a question of how mediocre his influence will be. I say this since I have to think Woody buys into the approach you have described.

It's like they're going to put a bunch of jobs on little paper scraps in a hat every 3-5 years to see who gets to do what after each failure.

Rex Ryan made the decision so stop with the Woody bashing. As long as he does not game plan, that's fine. He must be a good LB coach. Hey, we gotta believe in the head coach at this point.

If I recall he was brought here by Parcells and has lasted through several coaching changes. He must not be a complete piece of shit to have made it this far. As long as he's not calling plays we should be fine.

Why? What makes you think keeping any of these slugs is his decision? In fact I would bet the farm that they all aren't his by any measure.

Why? Do you believe he did a poor job as a LB coach prior to becoming the DC? I guess that would be a valid reason, but you give no reason.

I really have no idea how good of a LB coach he was, but he did have a handful of pretty good LBrs here under his watch. I would guess that he did a pretty good job if he managed to get promoted to DC.

He already has said he didn't have any coach forced on him. People really need to stop with the conspiracy theories already. I'll go back to it, but Parcells was the one who brought him here and he has a pretty good track record when picking coaches.

As long as he's just another brick in the wall, its all good? Perhaps we don't need to pay him either..

Somebody Over There Likes Him, Respects Him, Wants Him...

Look, the NYJs fired the defensive coordinator already. Get it through your head. Bob Sutton is a good players' coach -- one coaching regime after another has embraced his valuable skills.

Bob Sutton doesn't serve at the pleasure of the owner of the team or the General Manager. The only people that need to like his work and decide to keep him on the staff is the defensive coordinator and the Head Coach, in that order.

This is the way it works on every NFL team.

If the Owner and the General Manager doesn't let the Head Coach and defensive coordinator pick their own position coaches, it won't be long before they leave.

Mangini ran the offense that he brought in. Sutton did his best to communicate it to the players. Mangini should have been his own defensive coordinator and allowed Sutton to focus on his position coaching. But Mangini was trying to earn Executive Pay.

Just understand that Pettine and Ryan have decided they like Sutton, they respect Sutton, and they want to keep Sutton.

Your scapegoat for the NYJs' losing has already left the building.

    Get over it.

Let's see if Ryan's Regime does any better with these 'players' who now say they didn't like Mangini anyway, 'cause he didn't communicate with them about whatever...

does this man for one second represent the philosophies that Ryan's crew bring to the table. That also means his philosophies clash with mine, so I'd rather see him go.... there are other coaches in this league who can do the job as good or better.

I don't see why he is the only one being retained out of all the defensive coaches.

So Gholston is going to be taught by the Vagina's right hand man? Great, Glady's Gholston he will always be.

New York Pussy Jets remain in some small capacity, and his name is Bob Sutton.

What the hell does my screen name have to do with me hating Sutton? Because I root for the team and claim that I'm loyal, I have to agree with everything this organization does?

I guess I must have missed your complete blind optimism posts during the regular season...

i heard ryan talking about teaching the guys like gholston some of the keys to being a good rusher, things like angles and techniques... i think sutton has proved to not be able to teach techniques to outside lbs that help them rush the qb... what would make me think he can do it now?

the really disturbing factor is one that is unanswered at this point. was this ryans decision? tanny? or woody?

it appears to be a management decision, and with the guys who left it does appear that woody was not willing to pay someone to not be with the team. and then paying another assistant on top of it. that is scary and a shame.
