I votes Yes for two reasons: 1st I think it is the only shot we have at Brett returning next season 2nd I want to see how aggressive he can be when let loose
Once I heard Ken Zampese from the bengals was his replacement, i figured he can stay... before that I was indifferent.
Neither of those reasons are very good if we are going to have a run first offense although I'll believe that when I see it.
Why bring back Favre??? Why would anyone want him again ??? Why do you want to see another season of picks and poor passes and poor decisions and the abandonment of the run game to please this selfish prima donna??? If Schotty's return means Favre is more likely to return, then I say it was the wrong move.
Our last poll on who we want to be our QB of the team: http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=41817 shows that the top 3 guys are already on our roster. For any of them to succeed next year, keeping our present OC is paramount. I have said I would prefer the young guys battle it out in TC, but I know their success will depend on the familiarity of the system.
I voted NO, but more or less it depends on whether Ryan truly wanted him, or if it was pushed, now that he is the guy he better work well with Ryan
In my opinion, '06 was really mostly B-Schott, '07 was about the lack of an OL, and '08 was truly screwed by the last minute addition of Brett. '09 needs to take the limitations away from B-Schott: [A.] Either a fully rehabilitated Brett comes in here and starts from OTA No. 1, Strength & Conditioning 101, etc., or we go with a full-blown competition between the other three. Bye Brett. [B.] B-Schott sets up the NYJs' REAL and ENDURING personality: The SmashMouth Run Sets Up The Pass. The Defense has no idea what's coming next. B-Schott is a good coach. Given success he will be hotly contended for, just like every other successful NFL coordinator. RR has to be ready to succeed and maintain that success. It's all in the assistants to the Coordinator, anyway.
If you are saying that a HC is only as good as his braintrust, I agree, and its nice to see someone else say it too.
I think if it helps bring Favre back good move if Favre doesnt come back than it does not matter to me if he stays or if he goes.
That is usually the case, but Ryan was in the exact same spot as Schotty last year, but stayed on as the DC and the team did pretty well. I think Schotty proved he can be a really good OC. Now we'll see if he really was held back by Mangini. I like it that he's staying.
I don't like it. the jets offense was pretty bad in short yardage situations and running out the clock this season. I just don't think Schott is very good at calling plays in a low-risk, grind it out offense, which is what I think Ryan is going to want.
I'm shocked, I thought this poll would show the complete opposite. It seemed like everyone wanted Schotty gone. I'm going to try to forget last season and give him another shot. I remember thinking his first season with the team that we finally had a solid OC. The O was inventive and really overachieved. He found creative ways to get people the ball and really played to the strengths of the team. I hope Mangini was the reason that we did not see that kind of play calling last season.
Brett brought excitement to the team and he always gave a thread of hope. Say what you want but we had the 3rd best offensive output in team history. With no Brett at QB, Jones would have had eight in the box and only 1 TD again.
NO! I dont buy the BS that he was handcuffed by Mangina , He called that ridculous toss reverse in the pouring rain against Denver, He called the plays in the fcking Seattle Fiasco.... This guy has done nothing to warrant keeping his job, the Jets needed to throw out all the trash not just some of it.
Im on the fence withthis one, I thought he was awful, but the jet organization and the media are really going to bat for him pushing out these stories that basically it was Manginis fault.. I dont know. I think its important to keep him regardless of what Favre does... all the favre manaics(who forget how awful he was) need to understand its more important for Clemons and Ratliff to stay in the same system.
Everyone bitches and moans about this year, mostly because of the last 5 games. But despite a new qb who had to learn the playbook on the fly, Schotty's offense had these two overlooked results: "Thomas Jones led the AFC in rushing" "Jets scored 405 points, the third-highest total in franchise history." Lets hope they perform in 09 like it's a marathon, instead of a sprint.
YAAAAY! now we can pass against poor run defenses and run against bad pass defenses....... and hopefully we'll keep my favorite....3rd and 1 empty backfield shotgun formation! :shit:
