Why SNY? He should be paired up with Matt Millen on NBC.

I hated the moment we signed him as HC, and I was against te Germ from day one.

I predicted he wouldn't last in KC and only a moron would ever hire him for any coaching position.

During one of the pressers he did last year, he was asked if he felt like he had let the fans down. His response was..."They need to get over it."

My thought today is..."Herm, if you think you are going to get another Head Coaching gig, you need to get over yourself." His next gig should be a tackling dummy, at least he is qualified for that.

    I totally agree.

In his last 4 seasons he was 19-45. He had a ton of injuries and then a really young team. I mean if he was a really terrible coach, one of the worst ever, a complete joke that would give Kotite at his worst a run for his money, one that couldnt pick out an X or an O on a Tic-Tack-Toe board he would have never had 19 wins...... I would say 18 tops.

Glad we never had anything that embarrassing during his tenure.

Imagine what the Jets might have been the years he was here.

Fatcessa was saying that Herm has his money now, will get paid for another year, and just wants to go play golf or whatever in California. I actually believe that this was Edwards plan all along. Make nough money pretending to be an NFL HC and go to CA with a bagful of money and watch the sunsets. This guy.... if nothing else, I have to at least admire his ability to make so much money with no ability at all.

He is a master manipulator. He is the gold satndard for never trusting anyone who swears on and on about how honest he is. Only liars get so obsessed with that subject. Herm was one of the best. He fooled an awful lot of people.

Let's hire him as a safety next to Rhodes.

Leon for Herm has to go down as the best trade in Jets history.

I just heard what Schefter had to say and he is adamant that Shanahan isn't going there. He guarantees it.

I betcha Todd Haley will get the job. I had wanted the Jets to interview Haley, but that's okay. Rex Ryan should be good.
I expect Haley to be a very good NFL head coach. He is a tough guy from western PA and, for the most part, his players enjoy playing for him.
Haley and Pioli were both employed by the Jets in the late 1990s, so there is a relationship there.

Herm literally has the most playoffs appearances as a head coach in Jets history right? 2001, 2002, 2004. 3 is the record. Or am I wrong?

Good for Herman. I wish I was such a failure that someone would pay me millions NOT to show up at work.

I bet he resurfaces as the HC of San Diego State or someplace similar. I think he'd make a great college coach.

Wow. I knew Herm was bad, but I never imagined he'd become the Kansas City version of Richy Kotite!

I have trouble seeing that - he has no SEC connections, and doesn't strike me as the type to want to go to that sort of football-crazed environment.

I think the San Diego State possibility is much more plausible - that's his alma mater, he also played elsewhere in California (junior college and at Cal), and the Mountain West conference is laid back enough to not crucify him for his deficiencies. For the same reasons, I could see places like Fresno State and San Jose State (from the WAC) being attractive to him. (Note that I'm not saying that those schools would be interested in him - only that they seem like the kinds of places that would appeal to him.)

I have no idea if he finds the whole recruiting process of any interest, and that's crucial for a college coach. He might just take the money, go home, and play golf.

^ I think that's righ on. I think Herm would be fantastic at recruiting. Game day decisions, no thank you. But the players universally love the guy and to a man all say they'd run through walls for him. He'd be perfect.
