Respect can't be measured in nickles and dimes.

I think Herm was doing an alright job with KC, they do have a solid young base on the defense. How good could he have done tho?

I don't know if he said that, but it doesn't matter. I would not hold that against him. He was FIRED. He can go where he wants. If KC wants him, he should go.

I wish they would have let Herm coach for the last year of his contract. With so much youth on the team it was obvious that KC would have a bad record in 2008. I'd like to see how he could bring those guys along for another season.

He has left the club with a good young core of players, who will perform for the next coach.

As a Chiefs fan, I'm glad to see this day finally come. I didn't want him in KC in the first place and giving you guys a draft pick for him was the dumbest thing our former GM ever did. Herm is a horrible head coach and his press conferences just made me want to punch him.

As far as a new HC for the Chiefs, who knows? We have heard everything from Parcells to the Rat, Shanny to you guys. We've even heard rumors that Chan Gailey will be promoted from OC to HC. One thing for sure, Pioli isn't saying a word to the local media.

Wow, I always thought that was the one thing he WAS really good at. I swear, if Herm put together a 'Best of' compilation of his pressers throughout the years I would easily plunk down money for it. Not much mind you, but money nonetheless...

From what I gathered on Mike Francessa's radio show on WFAN today:

Shanahan is NOT going to the Chiefs. Adam Schefter is close to him, and Shanahan has a a close to zero percent chance of going there.

Also, Herm is done with coaching. He is going to stay home in California with the money he has earned. I don't know if it's an official "retirement" but he's apparently "done with coaching," at least for the time being.

6-26 in two years and did a terrible job replacing the old talent there.... sound familiar.

He should continue to thank Parcells and Groh for making him look good.

I hope he goes back to D-Backs coach for a shitty team and is never heard from again... like Mike Tice.

Yup, no big surprise. He had a good year in 2006 but then things just crumpled around him in KC mostly with injuries. If he coaches again he should make sure it's a place where they're set at QB no matter what happens to the starter the way things went at the end of his tenure here and in KC.

the guy is an absolute joke. Possibly the worst coach in the history of the NFL. The more I htink about him, the more I hate him and blame him for the Jets underachieving

why do injuries and not replacing players seem to be his downfall??

because he's a soft, too relaxed, inept drafting waste of an HC position.

Back to D-backs coach you go Herm.... maybe after a stint as an analyst on SNY.

Whatever anyone may think about Herm as a coach, he is a good man and I hope he lands on his feet.
