Oakland is where athletes go to revive their careers, reminding them that what they once thought was bad has nothing on the Raiders. It gives them a reason to go elsewhere, shut their mouth, and play ball.

Every league needs a dumpster like Oakland.

I think it would work out better. The QB situation is more stable now. In 2005, Moss was catching passes from Kerry Collins. The next year was a colossal disaster with Andrew Walter.
Boldin will work the middle of the field and this will allow guys like Higgins and Schilens to run go routes and deep outs against single coverage. The Raiders desperately need a physical WR for underneath patterns.
Boldin now seems to be a malcontent, although in the Green era, he was considered to be a quality guy. Who knows.
As for what he does on the field, the problem with Boldin is that he can be shut down by top cornerbacks. Larry Fitzgerald, on the other hand, cannot be shut down. I have seen numerous Cardinals games where Fitzgerald was double covered for much of the game and he still put up big numbers. I cannot say the same about Boldin.

Raiders are actually in pretty good shape on offense. Again Raiders just need to upgrade the OLINe. ONce they upgrade the oline than people will see how good Jamarcus Russell , running game and their offense is. Raiders have the young wrs (Schilens 6'4 225 sub 4.4 and Higgins showed down stretch they can be a big part of offense) Raiders get the young WR they like the most(spent 2008 on IR) Arman Shield 6'1 195 4.38 back. The GUY won every single drill they run at Combine for WRs last year. Raiders have a Big time TE Zach Miller. ONce they upgrade their tackles , he will be free to go out in patterns more. Raiders also possess some serious weapons aT RB. Raiders plan was to use Mcfadden coming out of backfield (in passing Game) That didn't materilize because Mcfadden wasn'T healthy (was limited with bad case of turf toe since week two) M Bush is great pass catcher also. Raiders stashed a WR Guy Marcel Reese 6'1 235 4.4 on their practice squad who they moved to FB . (learning nuances of blocking) Hes able to block he will create some serious mismatches problems for a defense in the passing game.

NOw what are Raiders in need of. A veteran WR that can be the go to Guy(Catch the important third down pass- keep the chains moving) Not to mention be the tutor to these young Wrs. NOw is it Boldin or Housandmanzheh.

Isn't Oakland about 30 million over the cap already?

I don't know where they sit in regards to the Cap but I would seriously doubt that as there roster is incredible young on both sides of the ball.

...because you feel the Raiders' roster has young players on both sides of the ball, the Raiders are not in any cap trouble??!! The Raiders spent more than the Jets last year after Free Agency...plus... with all their top 10 picks they had in the last 7 years or so...the rookie contracts (Fatboy Russell, Huff, McFadden, Gallery etc etc) on their roster are astronomical.

thanks for proving to the board yet again that your skull contains nothing but birdseed and pocket lint.

I now look at Oakland like Football Prison. Oakland is where players go when their head gets too big and they need to have their spirit crushed and head cleared so they can appreciate playing for a team that has promise and isn't being poisoned from within, doomed to failure forever.

I also look at Oakland as Raiderjeaux's punishment for being born.

I did a little searching and it seems like the Raiders are in about the same position as the Jets right now salary cap wise.

I look at Oakland as a place for players to get paid beyond their talent level (see Tommy Kelly)....and not give a shit if the sun rises or not.

So, what I'm hearing is that Raiderjeaux is predicting greatness from the young and exciting 2009 Oakland Raiders. That's so new and refreshing.

Here's my prediction: The 2009 Raiders will stink like week-old halibut.

Which of us does history tell us has a better chance of being right?

I think next season they shatter the record for consecutive double-digit losses. Or was that this year? It's so hard to sift through so much fail.

After the annual unrealistic prediction (which is about six months early this year), usually we get a follow-up post of "Yo will see and then yoi wull know that Joe kows what hes tlaking abotu." Now he's screwed up the whole timeline.

They still have a ways to go to accomplish that dubious distinction. The other pirate team, the Bucs, lost 10 or more games in 12 straight seasons.

The Raiders own the mark for consecutive seasons with 11 or more defeats. Six years and counting, Raiderjoe.

The Jets are going on 41 years without winning a championship. Hopefully Raiders drought never that long.

Also Raiders been to Two AFc Championships and one superbowl this decade. When you look at that this decade still hasn't been that bad.

Hehe. . . that's AWESOME! Talk about whistling past the graveyard. :)

Let's put this in different terms. If I were to go fishing, and I brought home a bucket of fish, and six of them were stinking, rotting, vile-smelling fish, while the other three were decent enough, would you call that a successful day fishing? Because, in the end, the whole bucket still stinks.

YEa but we still kiick your arse everytime you come to Oakland. IF you haven't noticed your coming again. Another loss for the Jets. I hope Favre comes back one more time. Last year we almost made him retire after the beating they gave him. This year he might not even make it to the end of the game.

Retire Brett or the Raiders will make you.
