Take a chance and dump Jones while his value is high. Washington is much better and we can get another back like Jones cheap, the line made him. He is slow and falls down as soon as he is hit. He is also old. He should also kiss Favres interception throwing ass, cause lets face it..he scored TD's do to the fact the D was expecting the old man to throw. If you disagree you don't watch the actual games.and your playing fantasy football, looking at stats, that are misleading. Equally tired of seeing TJ all over the media answering the same stupid questions, he comes off as a dumbass anyway. I only hope someone agrees wtih me.
Exactly what I mean..all you do I read the stats. see how slow he hits the holes..Washington would have had 2000 yards with as many carries.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. There will be enough work for both next season. You are assuming it is easy to find a RB cheaply. Jones is not a problem with this team. Next.
I don't buy it. Favre was never a threat at any point, he licked balls from start to finish and opposing D's knew it. We never threw downfield with consistency either. If you say TJ is a product of a good line then you say the same thing about Leon. When we stopped giving TJones the ball we started to lose. Thanks for playing.
I agree TJ is an mediocre RB and we should find a power-back to replace him, but since we probably won't get much for him there's no reason to deal him out unless we can totally rob somebody. He's young for his age and he's a tough and reliable player; I think he's still got a lot left in the tank. We played with 2 RBs last season, but we've got room for 3.
I'm assuming Jones is slightly better than mediocre with a great run blocking line in front of him. Plus he is going to be what? 32 next year. He is at the end of his shelf life. He averages 2.3 a carry against the Dolphins for a grand total of 23 yards and then blames the loss totally on Favre. Prior to Favre's arrival in New York he scored one touchdown. This year he had 13 T.D.'s and flexes in the end zone as though he did it all himself. The only way he will block for a teammate is if the guy trips over him. He has bricks for hands and couldn't catch a pass if it were to save his life. Barely a 4 yard career rushing avg.
I suppose I'm being a little rough on the guy. The real star of this team is Leon Washington, also a class act. I'm irritated everytime i see this moron Jones on television. Is he trying to be TO Jr? Believe me, I'm not writing this cause I like Favre, good riddance to him, hanging over our backs like some albatross we can't get rid of cause Woody sells Jerseys. Are we getting a bargain for his 4.1 mil? Maybe GBA got it right, well said.
Over rated? by who? He is a solid NFL RB, nothing more, nothing less. He can gets the yards and stay healthy. He can pass block, he can catch, he has a well rouned game, but falls far short of being a great or over rated RB. He is a known, safe commodity. You don't get rid of a guy like that without KNOWING you have a replacement. We don'tknow if Leon could be that guy, and who is behind Leon?
As long as Tony Richardson is lead blocking for him TJ can do anything a true power back can do. But TR is a FA and old, if he doesn't get resigned or comes back and is over the hill then TJ's lack of power will be a serious issue, just as it was in '07. So if they don't resign TR they better draft a true power back. No reason to draft a speed back with Leon on the team. ps. I don't think TJ comes across as dumb, I think he comes across as soulful.
We'd take a cap hit if we let Jones go this offseason. Next, however, is the time to move, because I'm pretty sure he has a big bonus or big base salary in 2010.
If Ryan really wants a running attack then I think we will draft Moreno if he is still available when we pick. You can't ever have too many RBs when you run that style of offense.
You sound very ignorant. Perhaps you should watch the games. You bring up the fact that he rushed for 2.3 yards a carry against maimi, he only had 10 touches. He's not over rated nor is he a super star. he is a solid rusher who had a career year and was not used enough down the stretch. when he touched the ball more than 20 times we were 9-1. Leon is great but is not an every down back. Jones was not going down on first contacted after week 4. he averaged 4.5 yard per carry and had 15 total tds. of course his line helped, thats the way the game is played, it's a team game, if your oline plays poorly then your run game and pass game will suffer, we saw this in 07, but jones still some how rushed for over 1100 yards. your logic fails as well as this thread. go play some madden.
Agree with the OP. We need a back who can move the chains and be a true complement to Leon. Jones would not only not start on any one of our East rivals he would be lucky to get 100 carries.
