http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/01/19/schottenheimers-status-with-jets-in-question/ A lot of will they, won't they going on
Ok, let's write the typical script. Schottenheimer takes over in NE as offensive coordinator and leads an amazing offensive attack...then takes over for Belichick as head coach and wins 3 super bowls.
Let the speculation continue, I will say that the longer schotty's status is in question i think the better the chance he doesn't stay
I wonder if it's the Jets that may not want to keep him or if it's Ryan that may not want to keep him. Or if it's Woody wanting Favre to return and therefore knowing keeping Schotty will allow that.
Why in the world would the Jets possibly release him from his contract? Only to let him sign with another team (worst of all the pats!) and lead an incredible offense? Lateral coaching moves are not allowed when a coach is under contract. The Jets should tell him he'll be staying as our OC (provided Ryan is okay with it, which I believe to be the case). Or we'll be getting some draft picks as compensation.
At the very least, the Jets have to hold him to his contract until the New England OC slot is filled. There is no way they can allow Schottenheimer to go to the Patriots.
:lol::lol: Now that was funny, could very well come true some day, but funny Ok, let's write the typical script. Schottenheimer takes over in NE as offensive coordinator and leads an amazing offensive attack...then takes over for Belichick as head coach and wins 3 super bowls.
Why is he so sought after? What is so special about Schotty? I must've missed something during that awful collapse.
I didn't realize that. Well, in any case, I can't figure out any reason why Shotty would be the OC of any team besides the Jets in '09 considering he is still under contract (presuming, of course, Ryan/Tanny/Woody still want him).
I'm not sure that's true. Can't see why teams can't agree on any deal they want. On another note, I've said this all along. Let Ryan pick his staff. If he wants Schottenheimer so be it. If not, let him get who he wants.
if reports are true that mangini didnt let schotty call the plays or overruled him, why not keep him and see what he can do? if rex keeps him i cant rex calling the plays unless its defense
It doesn't matter what Mangini did or didn't do at this point. Either Ryan likes Schottenheimer's philosophy and wants to keep him or he doesn't. Let Ryan decide.
I say we get rid of Schotty. That gives Favre less incintive to stay, and more push towards retirement.
all Schefter does it take the obvious and then frame it in possibilities. the guy is the master of the maybe. if he was a weatherman, all of his forecasts would be it "it may rain,or it might not."
I still don't see why Schott wouldn't want to stay. The team is familiar with his system and now it's a well known fact he'll get alot of autonomy over the offense. So if they succeed it's seen as his success and it'll be pretty easy for him to move up the coaching ladder. Where else can he go? Detroit? They suck. 9ers? They wanted Linehan and will probably make a move on Chudinzki or someone else before the end of the week. Oakland? Har har har. Belly will promote from within to take care of his OC situation like he always does, and Tampa Bay is probably where Linehan ends up.
