I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts about these three players. Will new coach want to keep them around? Do they have the talent to play in the NFL? Did Mangini/Sutton have any idea how to develop Trusnick/Murrel?
i cant answer your question but one thing that stands out is that we really don't know what sutton or shotty are like or what they were thinking about anything due to mangini's iron grip on all interviews. i hope the new regiem lets the coordinators share their thoughts and wisdom with the fans from time to time. i can understand keeping injuries secret to prevent the other team from knowing your game plan, but muzzling the coordinators sucks. means we sit here now wondering what sutton and shotty really wanted to do but mangini wouldn't allow. how much of our success/failure was mangini medling or the coordinators? we'll never know until they become their own head coach, kinda like when belicheck broke out from under parcells.
Trusnick looked pretty good when I saw him on the field. Especially in the last game of the season. Clowney looked great in preseason against backup's and looked ok when he got a shot towards the end of this season. But all he did was catch 1 pass. He is fast though and deserves a good look next season in my opinion. Murrell I only really saw play ST. He didnt look bad from what I saw but I cant really tell. All 3 of these guys you could probably take or leave.
If i'm not mistaken, Clowney only played in 1 game, during the Rs, and only had one pass thrown his way, which he made a great catch on. Trusnick looked to have potential. I'd keep him around. Murrell i think is worth a look, also.
At this point they are all inexpensive depth. tHey will have to play thier way oof the team in camp to not be around next year.
I have no idea what game it was, or what he did, but I remember Murrell made at least one really nice play during the season. Anyone remember?
I can see Ryan finding more use out of Trusnick and Murrell. We just haven't seen enough of them on plays from scrimmage. I was impressed with Trusnick against the Dolphins. I believe he had 16 snaps. He's got good size and speed and I could see a new coaching staff developing him. I'm not sure if Murrell will have a role outside of special teams. He just seems to lack speed. Clowney is a really interesting player. We know he has great speed and seems to catch everything. The question is can he run routes against starting cornerbacks and get open?
Trusnick did indeed look good when filling in for Harris in the last game of the year. I was wondering where the hell he was earlier in the season when we had Bowens filling in at MLB. His workload was light so it's hard to judge really. Same goes for Murrell. Both are special teams contributors which helps them in the long run. Clowney has shown the speed needed to stretch an NFL defense. Methinks he will just have to hone his craft. Definitely a keeper.
Like someone already said, they are fairly inexpensive, young and depth so they should be kept around. I can see Rex getting Trusnik/Murrell involved, and I've heard that Clowney is the fastest player on the team, he's shown great hands when given a chance, I think he deserves a chance and I don't see why he won't be given one, especially with LC on the decline.
I remember 2 passes thrown his way. 1 against the Bills which he made a great catch on and then one against Seattle which was a broken up pass. But yeah he didnt get a lot of time.
Trusnik played great in the Miami game .Which ever one of those guys isn't on the Jets, they have a guaranteed job in Cleveland.
