If Schotty leaves it will just allow Rex to bring in his own guy, so stay or leave, its a win/win.

Interesting read. As per all the stories out there the FO is pushing hard to any of the HC prospects to keep BS here. Now we are hearing that if BS doesnt get the HC gig, hes gone. Yet we have heard nothing from BS himself to give us a clue as to what his intentions may actually be. I'm not going to get too wound up on whether he goes or stays, as either way there is pros and cons. Myself, we get Rex in as HC, I will be happy and let the chips fall where they may.

Who are all these teams lined up for Schottenheimer? Not one team has brought him in for an interview yet, or requested permission for an interview.

As much as I dislike Schotty as an OC, I don't think I want him to leave. We have 3 young QB's on the roster that have been learning his system. I'd like to see at least one of them get a season of starting time under there belts and build some confidence before he leaves. I also believe a good head coach could settle him down and get him to commit to the run. I DO NOT want to see him as our HC though.

He's under contract with the Jets. If Ryan and the F.O. want Schotty to stay then he will stay.

QFT. I don't know who could/would replace Brian at the moment, but I didn't like what he did last season for us.

This is funny... I guess if Schefter yelled "Fire!" in a theatre, half the people posting in this thread would trample each other to death.

if that happened I would cry...tears of happiness good for him let him hire his own staff at this point any thing is more competent than him plus we could opt for some good coordinators. Billick perhaps, Mariuchi

Time will tell on last year's first pick but how many GM's drafted 3 legitamate Pro Bowlers(Mangold, Revis and Washington). Nothing is wrong with the GM. Got to tell you that contract lawyer stuff is weak.

    Good riddance...

You need a track record of success to have any type of leverage in forcing the Jets hand and Schotty Jr. doesn't have that.

I think that Rex will need his own team regardless of what Shott brings, with all the rumours flying around about him being stifled by Mangini that won't work well again, we need a cohisive coaching unit that is all on the same page without a chance for second guessing

At this point it doesn't matter. I think a new coach should get a new staff to work with. Give Rex full authority and allow him succeed or fail with his own guys.

That's just too smart and reasonable for the Jets to do.

Hold On a minute...Something is not right here...

It is a situation that already has drawn attention around the league. Other teams are eying Schottenheimer, waiting to see if the Jets go in a different direction and how they will handle it if they do.

    WTF?

I have not heard about 1 team this year requesting to speak to him for a HC or Asst. HC position..

I believe that if the position is an upgrade, Asst - HC, or position coach - coordinator, the incumbent team almost always let the coach speak to the team it is considered low rent if the organization does not..

I don't, see anyone beating down the door of the Jets, begging to speak to this prick. This is just some self PR by him and his old man..

If my theory is true or he is really giving ultimatums, I hope he gets his ass kicked right to the curb

PFT says that apparently the Lions would be interested in Schottenheimer as OC if he can get out of his Jets contract.

Other teams are eyeing Schotty, he was a top candidate for two NFL HC jobs in the past two years yet Jets fans want to get rid of him as fast as possible. Go figure. I'm hoping Ryan gets hired, Schott gets the assistant HC job in charge of offense and they build a dominant team with two bright minds.

with teams quickly filling up coaching positions it's only fair for the jets to make a quick decision on schotty...so that he can look elsewhere. in this league where the owners think money, u can't blame the coaching staff to think about it as well. to take care of themselves and their family's future.
