Spags a Top Candidate to Replace Herm in KC after Pioli Hire, per ESPN New England Patriots vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli has agreed to become head of football operations for the Kansas City Chiefs, two NFL sources told ESPN's Michael Smith. Pioli was seen packing up his office Tuesday afternoon, a Patriots source said. The decision to hire Pioli likely means Herman Edwards will not be back as Chiefs head coach next season. Among the top candidates to succeed Edwards is New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio will replace Pioli as vice president of player personnel, league sources told ESPN. Pioli, 43, has been with the Patriots for nine years. Pioli should find a warm welcome in Kansas City. At the last Chiefs home game, shortly after the embattled Carl Peterson resigned after 20 years as president, general manager and CEO, several signs were spotted in the crowd proclaiming, "We want Pioli."
For some strange reason I think there is someone waiting to step in and take his place with no problem. As long as Beli coaches and handles the draft the rest is moot.
Clearly Belichick is making all these other guys famous. Mangini, Crennel, and Weis all flopped and Pioli will probably be exposed as another tag-along of Belichick success. McDaniels will probably do jackshit in Denver too. And I don't like to praise BB.
It's being reported that with Pioli taking over in Kansas City, Edwards is most likely gone, and that they would have interest in Spagnuolo. I'm hoping Ryan is the Jets man because he looks like the best match for a number of reasons. Pioli
KC got what they deserved when they hired Edwards. The best parts is another team will eventually hire Edwards as a Hc and they too will get what they deserve. Edwards doesn't even have the DC experience to fall back on. LOL
I want Ryan here its been along time since we had a coach that made in game adjustments as well as Ryan does. He's a 3-4 guy and our personel is best prepared for the 3-4 we are only 2 playmakers away from having a dominant unit a saftey like Polamalu and a playmaker at ILB.
You know what? I'm tired of you commenting negatively on every post I make. stfu and go away. When you've been right half the time I have come back and talk. This directly relates to one of the Jets favorite candidates and I don't give a damn if it's in the NFL forum.
well boo "fuckin'" hoo! your thread title states this thread is about the Chiefs coaching situation...and Scott Pioli. quit being such a fucktard...
considering the only mention of the Jets is your preference that they hire Ryan, I fail to see any relevance to the Chiefs hiring Pioli and being interested in Spags. what exactly is your position that what the Chiefs do has anything to do with the Jets? just because a coach is (may be) hired by another team doesn't mean it has anything to do with the Jets. by that logic, every piece of NFL news can be expanded to be relevant to the Jets. Cowboys sign a player, that's one player the Jets can't sign. Lions sign a coordinator, that's a coordinator the Jets can't sign.
So hostile here. If the Chiefs are considering Spags, then it IS relevant to the Jets because he's been mentioned here, there and everywhere to be a finalist/ leading candidate for the Jets job. If the OP was talking about the Chiefs hiring Tennessee defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz (whom Schefter is saying) or Todd Bowles, Leslie Frazier or Ron Rivera (whom Schefter is reporting the Lions are interested in, with Schwartz as well) then THAT would have nothing to do with the Jets. But if there's a report of Spags, Schotty, or Ryan going somewhere other than the Jets - it's relevant to the Jets.
